Assuming Kira and a protected 1st was enough to get him, who do you send out with Kira, Nance or JV?

JV is a floor raiser that hedges against a Zion injury. But Larry has looked really good in stretches, he and Williams together probably raises your ceiling a good bit if you’re relatively healthy.

They’re not trading Williams, he will start alongside Ayton.

Even tho I like Nance Robert Williams is a bigger Nance that actually gives you rim protection. Nance body is breaking down but Robert Williams is hurt a lot as well, but when healthy he’s a game changer

How does that work? Neither are known for being able to space the floor well. Williams has defensive versatility, but I don’t see how both can be seen as long term options for them.

Nance is 31 and an expiring deal. As was mentioned, Williams is 26 and a good two plus inches taller, and much greater leaper and athlete. If you trade Kira, Nance and a first, you get out of the luxury tax, you add a fairly substantially better player and RW3 is signed for an extra year at a great deal. You have to at least try.

What makes you think they take that deal? I wouldn’t. Nance has had a lot of injuries and he’s 4 years older and a couple inches shorter.

Because the #1 mistake rebuilding teams make is trying to be good too soon rather than flipping non core players for future assets. I’m not saying Portland would take Kira and a 1st for Williams, but they should. Want evidence, just look at the Pels for the last decade.

Are you asking why the Blazers would trade their backup center for Kira and a first, and another backup center that they may actually be able to flip too

They plan to start him I believe and if not he will be a 6th man. I’m not trading him for a PG who has speed but little else that I’ve seen plus a 1st that most likely comes in the late teens to early 20s of the draft if we trade our own 1st.

nance easily. Can’t stay healthy. Robert Williams and Nance are too unreliable health wise to keep both

Same way it works with Zion and Val, or Zion and Adams.

Plus Portland probably doesn’t want to actually win, so that helps the decision to play them together even more.

Them lakers and Bucks picks has no hopes of being lottery picks anymore, you have to use them for situations like this now. Give them an unprotected bucks 1st and a top 10 protected lakers pick

Anyone is available for the right price. Nance or JV and Kira and some firsts would be more than enough and would improve this team overnight.

I understand the theoretical on court fit of Robert Williams, but given his history and the history of our franchise, it is more likely that he will fit in better, in the injury room, than on the court.

Him and Zion would be the team's best cheerleaders. I love Williams but I cringe thinking about how injury prone he is and how we already have enough of those type of players.

I don't see them as a tanking team. They have a good core, with the 2 young potential stars, 3 20+ppg scorers and a ton of flexibility. I don't think they strip it down anymore. They have a nice war chest already and good flexibility. I think it's a .500 team, especially if Henderson is ROTY and Sharpe has gotten better..
