Any reason why the Pels wouldn’t want the 2020 pick rather instead swap picks?

Because why would they want pick 30?

And they are saying what

This is from a podcaster, I guess he was interviewing him because he said he'd upload the audio soon.

quote:

Justin Russo @FlyByKnite 15 minutes ago

Brian Windhorst: "What they gave up for him is potentially scandalous. It's an unbelievable haul they gave. ... It is the Nets-Celtics trade Part 2."

Windhorst called it "one of the most lopsided trades" in league history when it comes to draft pick compensation.

Windhorst said the Lakers gave Pelicans control of their picks for the "next 5 to 7 years."

Brian Windhorst: "It was the best possible deal I think the Pelicans could squeeze out of the Lakers."

Brian Windhorst: "From what I understand is the details, there's more than just the draft picks. I can't say right now."

Brian Windhorst: "Just know that this was an incredible haul that they had to give up from a draft standpoint."

Apparently Windhorst called the trade "scandalous" and said it was among the most lopsided trade in terms of draft compensation in league history

Its from an espn radio interview.

If you're on a desktop or laptop you can go to the espn.com la radio section and rewind the stream back and listen.

I think there is going to be some very interesting language basically allowing us to pick when we want to take the 2 firsts.

I really wonder what he means about more than just draft picks? Will Solo be shipped out as well or something?

[O’Connor] A league source told me Saturday that the picks going to New Orleans are the no. 4 selection in the 2019 draft, a protected first in 2021, and an unprotected first in 2024. The Pelicans will also have the right to swap firsts in 2023.

Doesn’t seem to be as crazy as y’all think

This was trade rape & that's a term that rarely ever applies to trades just based off the draft picks situation alone. This is the equivalent of the Herschel Walker deal Jimmy Johnson pulled off with the Vikings.

Windhorst, for one. I think that there's still more to it than has been reported.
