Can someone explain what we’re actually getting here.

AD can frick the Pelicans by getting the Lakers out of the lottery. They will be bench role players after the Lakers go deep in the playoffs.

Details aren’t ready out yet

For the next 7 yrs. have you seen AD lead a team before? Not a very good track record

Thanks. I’ve seen multiple things being reported.

It's all speculation now, but as I posted in another thread:
Yes. So the Pels would get (no idea on protection):
2019: #4
2020: swap rights (she specifically said that the Pels weren't interested in this pick outright)
2021: Lakers pick
2022: swap rights
2023: Lakers pick
2024: swap rights
2025: ???? Swap rights ????
Again, based on what Shelbourne said. And the organization of this trade if based on the Lakers's inability to trade consecutive 1st round picks, so there's some assumption on my part. For 2025, I'm combining Shelbourne's "control of Lakers picks for 7 years" and Woj's "Pels get this year's #4 and 2 additional Lakers's 1st round picks".
And also Ball and Ingram. The trade looks a lot better when you see the whole thing written down.
ETA: Based on the timing of the trade, we COULD have gotten the 2020 outright. But this scenario is the only one that I can think of that combines what Shelbourne and Woj said the compensation could be.

Thanks thrill. If that’s true it’s a pretty legit haul.

Say that somehow the lakers implode and are in the lottery for the next 4 years does that mean we would have 4 lottery picks?

Yes. Unless there is a protection on them.
If what is posted is correct, the Pels would have the Lakers first rounder this year and then every other year for two more picks (in those years, the Pels would have the Lakers and Pelicans picks).
In the years inbetween those, the Pels would swap picks with the Lakers if the Lakers have a better pick than them. So, basically until 2025 the Pels will either have both the Lakers and Pels picks, or have the better of the two.

It’s a bit strange that Ramona is the only person that has given any info on this.

surely she didn't just pull that out of thin air, right?
it does sound insane though

Any reason why the Pels wouldn’t want the 2020 pick rather instead swap picks?

Can't trade consecutive 1sts
Posted on 6/15/19 at 8:29 pm to LosLobos111
Apparently Windhorst called the trade "scandalous" and said it was among the most lopsided trade in terms of draft compensation in league history
oh please oh please oh please Ramona be correct

It's not just Ramona anymore. It's Chris Mannix + Brian Windhorst
