Could the Pels be interested in x2 Euroleague Finals MVP, PG Vasilije Micic?

Micic is a 28 year old Serbian PG/SG. He was drafted in 2014 but has not come over yet. OKC controls his rights.

It has come out recently that he is ready to come over, but does not want to play for OKC “because of their crowded backcourt” (lol), so OKC is looking to trade his rights somewhere and he will come over.

quote:

Now the 6’5 Serbian combo guard wants to come to the NBA — but not play for the Thunder, who both have a crowded backcourt and own his draft rights. The Thunder and Micic’s people are working on a trade to get him to a place he wants to play, reports Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews (hat tip Real GM).

Well…the plot thickens.

quote:

Pelicans GM Trajan Langdon attended an Anadolu Efes game 3 days ago

Vasilije Micic plays for Anadolu Efes

OKC owns Micic's draft rights

Micic is a EuroLeague MVP/2X Finals MVP

Micic wants to play in the NBA

OKC has the #12 pick

NOP has the #8 pick

(This could mean nothing)

Hmmmm. With draft approaching interesting time for Langdon to be in Europe.

Shamit comments:

Obviously could be nothing but it’s interesting. Highly highly decorated PG in Europe that has won big there.

Our good Croatian mate Mark Cvitonivic would be livid - he hates "Chetniks"

Decent size, career 37% 3 point shooters, looks to have decent enough speed too. If his skills translate he's probably a good upgrade over Devonte because he can attack the basket.

short a roster spot
have to send out another player, or sell 34 (which is dumb)

And it looks like stateside earlier in the week working out for Minnesota

I will buy this theory bunch. Also Shane Larkin wants to come back to the L as well. The other team featured Nando De Colo & Rodrique Beaubois too. I don’t know if they still have aspirations

He had his best year in Europe this past year it appears.

He won their version of the scoring title (highest ppg) with 18.2ppg. The person who came in 2nd was Nikola Mirotic

True but we'd have lots of time to sort it out.

Here's a good clip that shows a little of everything, driving to the basket, thread the needle passes, pull up 3s, catch and shoot 3s. LINK

He looks like he's got the combination of size, speed, handle and craftiness for his dribble drive game to translate. If the shot translates too you have a good 6th man than can spot start if CJ is out. If he's ok with that role, that and a future 1st seem worth trading back from 8 to 12 if someone unexpected that the Pels love doesn't fall to 8.

I guess his contract would play a role too. It looks like he only made $3 million this year in Europe, hopefully you can get him for $6 or less.LINK /

I have long believed that we will trade down to dump Graham.

the real question is who is the target at 12 if this is true?

I like Eason but would hate him at 8...12 seems like a good spot for him.

I guess at 12, the BPA would be one of:
Ogbaji
Davis
Williams
Eason
Sochan
Branham
TyTy

We seemed to be linked to Sochan a lot. I would assume Ogbaji and Davis are gone before 12. Eason and Sochan both fit the mold of what we need off the bench (high defense guys who are athletic and can hustle[Eason has great 3D potential; Sochan would need lots of work with Vinson to fix that janky jumper]).

Would be in line with guards from UK that get drafted and blossom into great players

Booker (13)
Murray (7)
Fox (5)
Monk (11)
SGA (11)
Herro (13)
Maxey (21)
