Why can't I find anything about this Raj dude on the internet? If he is a baller and can afford the Hornets, shouldn't he be on the internet?

Anyone who thinks Stern wants to keep the Hornets in Nola needs to watch this video about the Sonics.
The difference between Seattle and New Orleans is that Seattle told the NBA no when it asked for a new Arena. The "ONOZ foreign owner" crowd acts like NBA teams move quite whimsically. Vancover moved because they were a mismanaged team that wasn't making money. Charlotte left because they wanted a new or upgraded arena and the local government said no. Seattle left because they wanted a new arena and the local government said no. Sacramento is possibly on the verge of leaving because they want a new arena and the local government has said no although they are trying to work something out and if they do the team will stay.
So of the most recent teams to move or threaten to move, one was losing money and the others were denied shiny new arenas by the local government. I'd be a little more concerned if the leading bidder was Larry Ellison, but other markets' stealing teams is a Bogey Man. It doesn't actually happen. Charlotte and Seattle both had the ability to keep their teams and Sacramento is trying to see if they are willing to do what it takes to keep the Kings in town.

Do they already have shiny new arenas in Anaheim (3rd LA team, really?) and Seattle?

It was just announced that Sacramento and the Kings have reached a deal.
LINK
This is how it will be for the Hornets, if we want the Hornets bad enough when the time comes we'll be able to keep them. Building a winner will go a long way to keeping the team here longer than 10 years.

The Kings have taken a significant step towards remaining in Sacramento for the foreseeable future, with team and city agreeing to the "framework" of a stadium financing proposal, according to multiple reports.
SI.com and NBA.com reported that Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and the Maloof family, who owns the Kings, told reporters in Orlando that stadium funding is on track.
"It's game over, so our community should be really excited," Johnson said, according to SI.com. "I want to jump up and down."

New article up on ownership from Joe Gerrity. He hasn't posted since Mardi Gras so there's a lot of fluff from what he did for Mardi Gras to Linsanity. The relevant bits are that his sources confirm the rumors that the Dunleavy group is in the lead. He also says that Dunleavy has no interest in being coach or GM, that's not to say he won't bring in his own people though. LINK
quote:
Closing note– When I spoke with sources familiar with Dunleavy’s ownership group a while back, I was assured that Dunleavy himself has no interest in coaching or becoming the GM of the Hornets. So if Dell or Monty isn’t safe, it’s not because Dunleavy would take their spot(s).

Let's hope this stays true if his group wins out.

This still doesn't mean Dunleavy will not have an impact on basketball operations. There is a good chance he would be given some title with the team and have his voice heard when it comes to making personnel decisions.

Seriously watch the Sonics video. The owner lied to the previous owner stating that he was going to keep the team in Seattle regardless yet emails with Stern prooved otherwise. It was so bad that the previous owner tried to get the team back. It's a great doc showing how much scum Stern is.

I don't need to watch a 2 hour video to find that out. You don't trust Stern you trust your situation. The state is rumored to be kicking in $50 - $60 million in arena renovations with this lease deal. It will probably require closer to $100 million worth of renovatons to keep the team for another 10 years in 2024. If we pass that test expect demands for a brand new arena in 2034.

Per Sperling in the T-P this morning, sounds like it could drag on to as late as June 1. This organization is one big joke.

There is no need to get into a tizzy over this. Sperling's thrown June out there in the past. There is absolutely no reason for it to drag out that long unless it has to do with closing the deal, not making the deal. All the rumors suggests that Chouest and Raj have made good enough offers to be in the game. The lease will probably help set the final price, and once the league chooses and approves the owner we'll be done. No reason to wait for June 1st for that unless there is some sort of NBA Board of Governors thing where they won't meet again to approve the deal until June 1st.

This. Everybody relax. The odds are that we will know whassup before the end of the month. If not, it won't be long after.
