Visiting some Clippers forums, they actually liked Dunleavy a lot as a GM...just hated him as a coach

Want no part of him as a coach. He is washed up on that end and Monty is doing some good work.

He wasn't half bad as Clippers GM. Their draft record was pretty good under his tenure- Al Thornton, Gordon, Jordan, Griffin. And he wasn't part of the Baron Davis trade where they gave up a lottery pick last year. So that's a plus.

If the rumors are true, hopefully he is Basketball Operations CEO. He gives Demps his space and they can work together t build a roster.

Dunleavy was the only Clippers coach in the last 35 years to win a playoff series. He also took the Lakers to the finals and was 1 game from taking Portland to the finals.

I can't wait to get Shinn's people out of the way and turn this franchise over to someone who has done something outside of the D league.

In Dunleavy I trust.

It's not trolling.

I am incredibly excited about the Hornets future for the first time since the 2008 summer.

Sorry I don't think the current management walks on water.

Isn't that always the classic response when people get called out for being excessively douchey. They play victim and twist things to make it seem like everyone else is being unreasonable.

Literally 95% of your posts on HT are about how much you hate Monty.

Give it a rest.

Obvious troll is obvious, but let's break down the great Mike Dunleavy.

quote:

Dunleavy was the only Clippers coach in the last 35 years to win a playoff series

Google game 5 of the series between Phoenix and LAC. Dunleavy's ridiculous substitution of an ice cold Daniel Ewing with 1.1 seconds cost them the series. Sam Cassell after the game

quote:

We had a young guy in the game. It's not his fault that Raja made his shot, but we've got to know better in that situation," Cassell said. "We've got a foul to give, we've got to put Raja Bell in the fifth row with the popcorn man, but we didn't do it."

Monty has never done anything as dumb as Dunleavy did there.

quote:

Lakers to the finals

He took over the Lakers at the tail end of Showtime. His team had Magic, Worthy, Byron, and Perkins late in their primes, but still in their primes. Nice accomplishment to get to the Finals, but more like walking into a good situation.

quote:

was 1 game from taking Portland to the finals.

You mean the game where his team blew a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter in Game 7 of the conference finals?

Dunleavy isn't Isiah Thomas, but he's old and a retread. His coaching record has some of the biggest screw ups of the last 15 years.

I will repeat. Obvious troll is obvious

I'll let the people spending hundreds of millions of dollars decide who they think should best run their investment.

And I'm not going to complain when they choose the guy with 500 career victories over the guy with 54. Obvious choice is obvious.

And your logic would mean you'd take Bobby Bowden over Nick Saban.

Excellent analogy.

Saban's resume is very similar to Williams' resume.

Career Coaching Record:

G W L W%

Dunleavy 1329 613 716 .461

Williams 115 54 61 .470

Saban - Monty is no more absurd a comparison than Bowden - Dunleavy. But Bowden has so many more career wins.
