Could we assume this leak came from this group because they WERE in the lead, and now might be losing ground?

File me under people that didn't know Larry J Benson existed.

The good news is it says A top candidate, not THE top candidate. And hell, we don't even know for sure if this group would actually be bad. Chouest is definitely a more comfortable situation though. Whoever buys the team, Stern does not want this team moving anytime soon. We'll have our chance at worst.

ETA:

I did totally miss this the first time I read it though.

Again we've known about this group for weeks.

Now we just know the details. Changes nothing.

The groups are all posturing now.

Why did they make their own forum anyway? Too cool for TD/HR?

i'm not huge on this but why the frick would benson get involved for a team headed to anaheim or seattle 5 years down the road? might as well just let things play out. and this might not even be the group to win. who knows. the doom and gloom right now is retarded.

I won't worry yet. This thing still isn't over, now we just know who the out of state group is. Stern will do his thing to help keep the team here as long as possible. I don't know anything about the new Benson, but I assume (or hope) that he would try to help keep the team here too.

Ummm....what exactly is everybody trying to get at here again? I see an end to being owned by the league, a great core of players, a new lease with the state getting signed and a new journey to the ship starting.

Y'all so racist......its cuz his name is Raj huh?

I wouldn't worry about moving a team to Cali anytime soon.....la is shutting that downon the quick.....see sactown.

It's just the possibility that an outside owner with no ties to the city could just pack up and leave. At least with a local owner like Chouest, one would think that he would want the Hornets to remain in NOLA since he is local.

They are worried cause someone not from here will want to move the team to a more profitable area, because New Orleans isn't really that profitable as far as the NBA goes. Its a rational fear, though not something that will happen anytime soon.

WTF is yall's problem? Does anyone remember what the wait has been about lately???

A LONG TERM LEASE WITH THE STATE OF LOUISIANA.

Regardless of who buys the team, they won't be able to move it anytime soon.
