Free Agency starts Monday at 6 pmET. Pelicans have the ability to take back up to close to 60 million in salary with the Memphis trade, assuming Lonzo S&T added in.

Everyone knows the interest in Lowry, Pels also have interest in CP3. They've also been connected to a plethora of other guys, mostly every single shooter available on the market. The question now will be, do we become a tax team, or skirt the tax again?

RealGM doesn't even show that we are interested in Lonzo?

Instead they show us going after 36 yr old CPIII and 35 yr old Lowry with their generational retirement exits as they fade away on the court.
Sorry but imho, you should sign Lonzo before either of them.

Unless Lonzo gets offered a crazy contract, I believe we would be stupid to not bring him back. At worst he is a long versatile 3&D defender with ball handling skills. He still has the ability to continue to improve.

Hoops Rumor

quote:

Lowry will be among the top point guards on the market when free agency begins Monday, with the Pelicans, Mavericks and Sixers all likely to be heavily involved. Toronto may also make a strong bid to hang onto Lowry, who has been with the organization since 2012.

William Guillory and John Hollinger of The Athletic break down sign-and-trade possibilities for the Pelicans involving Lonzo Ball. The Bulls, Pacers, Clippers, Celtics and Wizards are all mentioned as potential sign-and-trade partners.

Heat picked up Goran's option, may take them out the Lowry running.
And Woj just shot that down

As the Miami Heat create salary cap space, Toronto free agent guard Kyle Lowry remains a firm target in free agency, sources tell ESPN. Miami has more levers to pull to create space to sign Lowry outright -- or can still endeavor to work a sign-and-trade with the Raptors.

I think we will know what Lowry is up to at 5:01 tomorrow.

The ST details might take a minute but we will have clarity on where he’s going quick.

Lowe:

Miami and Lowry have been linked for a long time now, per sources. (Lowry of course has drawn interest from many teams all year.) Feels like Lowry is going to be the first major domino given New Orleans space and all the point guards in free agency.

Lowry is going to the Heat. Makes no sense to pick up Dragic's option at that price unless they are doing it to use in a S/T for Lowry.
Plan B time for Pels. Brogdon or Sexton, hopefully

Next season is the season to make a big free agent signing. This year’s free agency is arse. Next season’s is amazing.

That's why I'd almost rather split the money up into a few players.

Don't just blow it all on lowry

I can tell you that next offseason isn’t much of a thought in Griffins head right now. If he doesn’t get this one right he might not be here for next offseason

Adrian Wojnarowski
The Heat's decision to pick up the $19.4M option on Goran Dragic's deal is a possible precursor in utilizing him as part of a potential sign-and-trade with Toronto for Kyle Lowry, sources tell ESPN.
Woj is all but reporting Lowry to Miami at this point.

Bobby Marks

This would allow Miami to act as a team over the cap and still have the $9.5M midlevel plus the ability to bring back restricted free agent Duncan Robinson.
Cross Robinson off the board too

Really curious about our alternate plans if we don’t get Lowry.

yes the other teams that want Lowry are going to be aggressive. This would be buying at the top of the market and I don’t like it. Lowry is not that kind of player

love to have him but not at this price
