All I'm saying is this future trade for a star from what we get for Jrue is all smoke and mirrors. I'm not against continuing to get draft picks but only inside the top 15 or 20. After that I'd rather young players who are already playing and improving in the NBA. If we trade Jrue I'd like it to be purely for players that will stick around BI/ Zion.

Horford doesnt fit that long term and Wiggins isn't that guy. If these are the type of options then we are better off attaching Jrue with 1sts for an all star or keeping him.

#19, #34, 2025 1st, and 2026 1st aren't guaranteeing us much considering how many picks we already have. We would have to attach those picks along with a very good player in the future which we don't have. If we draft that player then chances are we want him to stay with BI/ Zion right not trade him?

So we are pretty much trading Jrue for Al Horford and Thyb currently. I dont have a problem with Horford, Thyb, and #6 but it would be stupid to not try and get Huerter, Reddish, Hunter, or another guy that can contribute now and for the long run > 2 1sts 6 years from now.

Personally, i'm over the idea of gathering a bunch assets to make a run at the next star player that wants out. A player that won't even want to be here, btw.

What star player wants to be traded to the smallest market in the league? Lets be real, guys don't demand trades to end up in NOLA. Its why nobody but LA made a real offer for Davis. They knew he would leave.

If i'm gathering assets, its to be able to have the ability to put perfect pieces around Zion/BI. We can target really specific players/player types.

I think organization and winning probability mean more than location. No one expected PG to resign in OKC.

I wish that was the case.

Magic quit, threw everybody under the bus, and Lakers fans protested the organization in front of Staples before last season. Lebron went there when they were the worst team in the league for 6 or 7 years.

They just won a championship solely due to location. They did nothing to "earn" a free agent like Lebron.

The entire NBA is anticipating Giannis leaving a 60+ win Milwaukee team. Don't wait by the phone if your city doesn't have ocean views.

Depending on how you look at it, pretty damn well. The Clippers gave them an absurd trade for him.

That was LeBron wanting to cement his legacy and his career after basketball. Why didn’t anyone come before him?

No free agents go to the Knicks either. No one volunteered for Brooklyn until last season too.

IMO, this is not the draft where you want to accumulate a lot of draft picks. We had 4 rookies last year, and now you want to possibly add three more? Lonzo for 6? To potentially get Hayes, who is a solid defender and playmaker, that can’t shoot the three well and has a questionable shot selection. That doesn’t make us better. Jrue for picks and Horford. An expensive, old center and a bunch of picks in a bad draft... Like it feels like some of us just want to trade players cause we can. Can we get some chemistry going? Jrue Holiday was our only returning rotation player last year.

Here’s what I think the Pels should do. Hold on to Lonzo. I think he’s a wait and see. You give him a prove it year, just like last year with Ingram. If he disappoints, let him go. If he impresses, you sign him.

With Jrue, I only trade him this offseason if the deal blows me away. The opportunity to trade him is the deadline. I think no matter what the Pelicans record is, you take phone calls on him. I personally don’t think the Pels should be thinking about giving him an extension unless it’s a solid pay cut. 3/75? Too much for me.

I think if you see the Pels trade Jrue and Lonzo (and JJ), it’s going to be at the deadline. 2021 has both a loaded free agency and also a loaded draft class. As of now, the only players on the books for the Pels for 2021 are Zion, Hayes, NAW, and Ingram (max contract probably). If the Pels want to reconfigure the roster around Ingram and Zion, next offseason is the time for that. I think going into a possible 2 month offseason, you get a Favors replacement (on a short deal), and stick it out.

Last season didn’t end great, but remember; We were a young team, with a bunch of new players, running a crazy fast offense. And both our starting PF and C missing a good amount of games. A bunch of turnovers and bad team defense can be corrected with some roster continuity. A lot of our turnovers were unforced. Just mistakes by a young team. Let’s just try to grow as a team under SVG.

39% from 3 in a professional league..

He's a 90% free throw shooter also, which is the best indicator of becoming an elite 3 pt shooter. Killian literally checks all the boxes for what we need as a lead guard.

All of this makes sense. I'm not a fan of expiring contracts. I especially don't like making guys on rookie contracts doing a prove it year. Its basically restricted free agency and every player hates that. It can create so many issues and sows discord.

If Ball doesn't have it, trade him now or at the deadline. Don't string it out..

That’s the dumbest thing we could do.

So you think we can attract a max FA guy?
News flash buddy, we will never attract FAs. We have to build our team through the draft and trades.

and Melli. Yes, he's 28, but the NBA ain't the Euroleague, and there's also the culture shock. It's not easy to make that transition.

Hayes may be my favorite prospect tbh.

Shot creator, solid passer, has Harden-esque skillset, projects to be very lineup versatile, and importantly, he takes pride in defense and has very high upside there.

I would honestly actively go after him. He makes a ton of sense along side Ingram and Zion.
