10 teams have shown interest in Jrue
We will definitely get more than people think, a bidding war will commence.

Even though official league business hasn’t begun for next season, it hasn’t stopped teams from discussing parameters for trades.
One hot name: New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday. According to sources, around 10 teams are inquiring about his services and one team hot after him is the Denver Nuggets, eager to capitalize on their appearance in the West Finals.

If this is true, then Griffin could likely get some very good offers if he’s actively engaged. He would be foolish not to.

Agree, and I don't believe trading Jrue is necessarily a move away from the "win now" theme that they appear to be going towards.

I think there’s a big difference between trading Jrue to get young assets and picks, like the Warriors or Nets trades, and trading Jrue to get back an upgrade, like Beal.

I personally would be fine with either choice.

It seems like we're probably this source of this 10 teams story suggesting we're at least trying to push the market some and see what shakes loose. We've been over Jrue trades from just about every angle here and none of them are really compelling. They're trades you make if you think you'd be losing Jrue and are trying to get the best return. They aren't trades you make because you think it makes you better to have these other players/assets instead of Jrue.

Maybe Griff has some other moves lined up that make a Jrue trade make more sense. Like Favors and JJ were present value players that came out of nowhere. If you can pull something like that off again then getting largely future assets for Jrue might be the best return to try and get.

re: 10 teams have shown interest in Jrue
I’ve heard some NBA guys suggest that the trade deadline moves this season is going to be much bigger and wilder than the moves in the offseason. The reasoning has to do with the shortened offseason and moratorium, the uncertainty of future finances, the large number of quality players on expiring contracts, and the amount of teams looking to position themselves for the 21 free agency. Although the extremely complicated trades tend to happen in the offseason rather than in-season, it looks like this next year could be the exception. I wonder if these rare circumstances mean the Pels could actually get more in a trade deadline move for Jrue?

That will kind of require being sellers at the deadline...

How many times do we guess trades correctly, though? If a Jrue trade occurs, chances are that it's going to be something that we didn't expect.

Yeah if anything I see us being buyers at the deadline.

If we are sellers, then things went completely wrong and we would be looking to sell everything outside of BI and Zion.

We cant't be buyers without being sellers.

We have 10 players on our roster with BI, Zion, Lonzo, JJ, Hayes, NAW, Melli, Hart, Miller, Jrue.

2 of them aren't going anywhere. 4 of them have little value.

That leaves JJ, Jrue, Lonzo, and Hart. If we are to be "buyers" then chances are 2 of those guys are gone. We don't have cap to attract any FA's and as of now our options are Favors or a vet min at center.

re: 10 teams have shown interest in Jrue
I'd have to disagree. Everyone loves their hypotheticals but there are only realistically 4-5 landing spots for Jrue. The Nuggets, Nets, 76ers, Pacers, and GSW.

These teams have the best assets and pieces that fit. The only way we trade with GSW is if they give us the #2 pick and another young asset, regardless of Wiggins. It still just doesn't make sense considering the quality we can get back from the other 4 teams I mentioned.

Who would've guessed the Thunder trade for PG, or the Clippers trade for PG for that matter?

Teams like Miami, Dallas, Portland, Utah, etc... Could all make moves, 3 way trades included.

The only time that trades really go as expected is when a player is forcing his way to a certain team, otherwise it's usually out of left field.

We have plenty of draft assets to buy without selling.

The only way we would have to include major pieces would be for a major trade, but we wouldn't be doing that unless a Beal becomes available.

Instead think more along the lines of a Miller and a protected 1st for Rose type trade. Something to add one extra piece to help aide in a playoff run.

If the Warriors are involved it would 100% involve a third team

I stand by my statement that I believe we SHOULD trade Jrue for a mix of vets and future assets/young players, but I do not think Griffin will until during the season if at all.

re: 10 teams have shown interest in Jrue
Thinking about Stan’s breakdown of the team on the Lowe Post it feels like Lonzo fits Jrue’s role. Now I have doubts he’ll get good enough at scoring and defense to really fill those shoes, but if the team isn’t ready to trade Lonzo, it seems like they need to trade Jrue and get a starting caliber lead guard back in the process. Even if it’s an older stop gap like Rubio and you draft your long term lead guard this year.

re: 10 teams have shown interest in Jrue
I really can't agree based on your argument. Teams like Miami, Dallas, Portland, and Utah are nothing like Houston or LA. Both the Clippers and Houston had chemistry issues and struggled with their roster. Neither really built their team from the ground, they both traded for players. Also several people saw OKC trades coming. Are we acting like Westbrook and PG weren't going to be traded?? All 4 of the teams you mentioned have multiple assets that are crucial to them playing well. NONE of those teams have locker room issues (unless Gob and Mitch are still upset) and all of those teams are still improving.

Its not a good comparison. The pelicans don't have locker room issues either. We aren't freaking out to trade Jrue. We are going to look at what is offered and decide if the team is better off with him still on it. Dallas doesn't have the assets and we would be fricking stupid to pair him with Doncic in our division. Ditto with lillard, plus I'm not sure him and CJ want to split it up yet. Utah doesn't have the assets of the 4 teams I mentioned and Miami has 0 reasons to split up.

Meh on this report.

Almost every national report or conversation about the Pelicans comes with this hint of the idea that we're doing everything on the cheap. Its just an easy go-to for national guys that have no idea what's actually going on here.
