I'd love a Horford/AD combo in the front court

I'd be all over that horford deal. Best player in the NBA no one talks about. Would be perfect with AD.
Even though it would cut cap space down to about $6 - $7 million, it'd probably change the outlook of Free Agency a bit too. You can pretty much sell the SFs you're going after that their addition makes the Pelicans a playoff team.

McNamara247: Also hearing Atl might start from scratch if they can't lure Dwight or CP3 and they LOVE McCollum. 6th pick, Lopez and 2014 pick 4 Horford?
I'd like to get Horford but I thought you couldn't trade back to back first rounders, so wouldn't it be a 2015 pick instead?

You can't trade consecutive future 1st rounders. Once the draft has passed the 2013 isn't a future pick. So as long as this trade went down after the draft it'd be legal.

True. NOLA would somewhat become a nice sleeper destination id think. That would be a legit frontline

Healthy EG + Horford + AD could be very nice core. If we could somehow add 1 or 2 more pieces could be scary good.

Would love Horford, but that trade would put Atlanta around $20m below the cap floor even after extending Teague to around ~$12m/yr. That leaves them in a situation where they HAVE to spend a shitload of money, possibly on guys they aren't huge fans of.

If we go that route, a trade for Bledsoe seems unlikely. Do we go for both a PG and SF in FA?

Or that leaves them in a position to rent cap space.

Good point. I guess with the tax penalties increasing, there will be some willing teams, plus they could have a ton of exciting young players learning the ropes while tanking for Wiggins.

I'd assume we roll w GV/Rivers at the point. Sign a mid level SF like Martell Webster

You definitely have to do that deal for Horford if its out there.
There's no way ATLs trading him though. Even if they're gonna blow it up, Horford is the guy you rebuild around.

Yeah. Seems like they'd be more likely to trade Horford if they do get Howard

I'd love Horford, but that means our 3 best players are all natural PFs. One will have to play Center, but do they trade one then (Anderson?)?

Horford and AD can play together. Ryno still comes in as sixth man and I know many don't want to admit it, but EG is without question "one of our three best players."

I see this said about Horford all the time, but the one thing I never hear is "Atlanta lost because Horford wasn't enough at center". I honestly don't watch them often enough to know, I'm just saying the criticisms of the team usually don't match the narrative of "If only Horford could play PF".

So 2 1st rounders AND Lopez for Horford?
Why would we do this?
I could see doing one of those picks and Lopez, but both? He isn't a true Center and they've been wanting a true C in ATL since he's gotten there to shift him back to PF.

Michael McNamara ?@McNamara247 3m Warriors come to you and offer Biendrins, Jefferson, and Klay Thompson for Robin Lopez so they can get Dwight. What's your answer?

Michael McNamara ?@McNamara247 2m It would kill our cap room for 1 year, but then those guys would come off the books next summer and we would have Klay moving forward

This seems a lil steep to me too.
