I'm dead serious, it makes no sense to argue now, but you will see come next season.

From everything that I've heard and seen, he is basically the worst case scenario for victor oladipo. Still an elite defender but undersized and can't create offense

Saying that is a stretch but I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. I do believe rivers will surprise everyone next year

I'll concede that Rivers is far better than he started last season. I'm questionable as to how much better he'd be than Oladipo, though.

I can't see this working without a 3rd team involved to take Pierce or Demps flipping him in a separate trade.

Some are wanting to morp this into the Bledsoe/Jordan trade, but the only way I can get that to work financially is

Gordon to Boston
Pierce and Vasquez to the Clippers
Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan, Avery Bradley, Willie Green, Grant Hill to the Pelicans

No Jordan.

I'm willing to take Bledsoe, Bradley, Green, and Hill, but NOT Jordan.

The only other way to make it work is to swap Butler for for Jordan and give up the draft pick instead of Vasquez.

So it essentially becomes Gordon and 1st for Bledsoe and Bradley. And I'm not in favor of this trade, just pointing out what a 3 team deal might look like.

Avery Bradley and Eric Bledsoe together? Huh. Shorter than you'd like, but great defenders. Not sure what to make of it.

Would open the door to do something audacious in the draft like reach on Tim Hardaway Jr. or some offensively geared guy like that.

why does Boston trade their 2 best players and a 1st for Eric Gordon?

you seriously need to lower your expectations regarding a Eric Gordon deal

I'm not ready to trade him for scraps, but I'm aware the Pels wont be getting an all-star PG, a quickly developing SF and a 1st for him

So we'd be looking at

PG: Bledsoe/Roberts
SG: Bradley/Rivers/Green
SF: ???/Hill
PF: Davis/Smith
C: Jordan/Lopez

From Jimmy Smith at the Times Picayune:

McNamara is less reliable that Incarcerated Bob. I think McNamara is an IBN wannabe. He creates multiple "rumors" using his one friend in the NBA and hopes to hit one day so he can say "I told you so." Not much different than Fletcher.

I don't like that trade with Boston at all. Hell, I don't really like giving up Gordon for Bledsoe at this point. I really want to see how he plays at the beginning of the season.

He must be sitting in the basement of Mom's house running ESPN trade machine all night to see what "rumor" he can come up with...

Most trade rumors are complete garbage because they are the repeating of conversations that never went anywhere. Trades that actually get made often happen before they hit the rumor mill.

The only reason I would give up Gordon for Bledsoe at this point would be if we got other assets worth a shite in the balance.

For the record, DeAndre Jordan is NOT an asset.

Caron Butler is a minor asset at best.
