Not true at all. There's a reason Metallica is in the thread title along with Tool. Please re-read the OP before wrongly stereotyping me as a Metallica hater.

However, some of the completely biased Metallica posts in this thread are indeed laughable...

I actually didn't say that, you just came up with that yourself. Rosetta Stoned would be my 2nd or 3rd favorite on the record.

This all comes down to personal preference for you and most in this thread. Impact, importance, fans, catalog are all big check marks in Metallica's column.

I have nothing against Tool and I enjoy a lot of their music but the bands aren't comparable.

My guess is that for the majority of people starting at Aenima or earlier 10k was at best a plateau at worst a regression. I think its better than what 99% of other bands are putting out, I just think its a step down from Aenima and Lateralus........maybe even Undertow. I think I feel that way because each of those records has such a deeply unique feel from the other while 10k feels more like a meshing of older stuff with a heavy Lateralus bent. Rosetta Stoned actually reminds me a lot of Third Eye tonally and structurally.

Those were your words you had for a poster one day but for some reason when it's turned around on you, it doesn't hold water. Only the deepest die hards Tool geeks accept 10,000 days as being better than good or better than any of the other albums. IMO, is it bad? no. Is it good? For Tool, it's definitely not great.

The difference is I like to think that I can accept it when a bad album or the downslide is happening. I'm speaking directly about The Cult's Ceremony, self titled album, Beyond Good and Evil.

Seriously, the music is just much more complex. FTR, I really like 10,000 days but its not my favorite.

I loved metallica when I was in jr high/high school tho.
