same here. I remember a few metal heads sporting the early 80's style of Kill em All pins on their denim jackets but I didn't really listen to them till Master was released. If metal heads thought they were cool it wasn't for me then. They use to be featured in Thrasher Magazine a good bit b/c of the San Fran connection with the magazine and Zorlac skateboards. We ended up buying the cassette. That was that holy shite moment of thinking this is what west cost punk attitude should be musically. Shortly thereafter, went and picked up Kill em All and Ride the Lightning. We wore those 3 out. I couldnt' get into Justice or anything else after that. Maybe by then their coolness to me had worn off.

I saw the Justice tour but mainly went because The Cult was opening and hung out to watch Metallica. Incredible show.

I don't mind odd time signatures. But bragging that a band needs to do math formulas to play their songs makes me want to go door to door and punch every one of their fans in the face. Nothing irritates me more than pop music fans bragging about the complexity of the band they like. If we took all of the music in the world ever made and put it on a scale 1-10, the most complex pop song ever made would be, maybe, a 3. Complex rock bands have more in common with the Buddy Holly than Stravinsky. Your music ain't THAT complex. Drug addicted teenagers with no formal music training can play it.

Which would imply that those teenagers were very talented in spite of drug addiction. Kudos to them!

Worst Tool song ever!

I've been a Tool fan for maybe 15ish years now. Started with Undertow, then Aenima, Lateralus, 10k.

I honestly have mixed feelings on 10k. Vicarious sounds like a Lateralus B-side and honestly I don't even know if Tool would deny that. I feel like 10000 days is the first time Tool starting copping their early work. That being said, its still a great album with some great tracks and keeping the pace that they kept is a pretty tall order.

Jambi is my favorite track on 10000 days, but I rarely have the urge to listen to that record. Aenima/Lateralus are tied for the best depending on which day you talk to me.

Listen...if a band that I like puts out an overall shitty album, I'm not going to like that album just because it was created by a band that I have liked in the past.

Overall, the album just isn't that great.

I think over time you'll realize this. Some bands get better with time. Some bands plateau and disappear. Some bands actually succeed at putting out worse and worse material over time because people always hold out hope the next album with be the band's return to greatness.

I prefer metallica's music, but tool's music is more technically challenging, especially the bass and drum parts.
