I've had friends play those albums for me. I couldn't wait until it was over, and this was when I loved Pantera. I could even fake it like I liked it, much to the surprise of my friends.

One or two, I don't remember who. I've driven past BCS plenty of times and watched CMT though.

Does that really matter?

I agree. OP said "most awesome band" and "more impressive catalog" Metallica is better to me in both areas by a wide margin. Tool being more "artistic" is not only debatable but not what I was answering. If the question was "Who has better songs in Drop D Tuning" then Tool wins hands down.

You're generalizing, so am I. Metal is a very diverse genre that appeals to a diverse group of people, not just dumb meat heads.

Artistic meaning I can't think of a better word to make Tool's music sound more appealing than it actually is.

Tool has a well deserved place in the rock pantheon but to try and ignore the fact Metallica reshaped hard rock/heavy metal is just being obtuse.

For agrument's sake if Metallica is the Beatles of Heavy Metal then Tool is the Gerry and the Pacemakers of the genre. (No offense Gerry and The Pacemakers fans).

God you're terrible...and completely wrong.

Btw, no one has said that Metallica sucks. No one said that they didn't set the tone for an entire genre.

There's a reason that only two bands are listed in the thread title. Think about that for a moment. Dope...
