This is the first song I ever remember being obsessed with, definitely before kindergarten.

Prolly Jesus Love Me, but this is the first 45, my cousin's, that I remember playing over and over.

Something from The Jungle Book. I wore that tape out on road trips. Feel bad for my parents.

I own my parents copy of the 45 now.

For me? I was obsessed with Sly and the Family Stone as a kid! I play this to this day:

I’m 53
I feel like songs like band on the run
Let ‘em in
Sir duke
The candy man
We’re all playing on the radio
Throw in steely Dan stuff
I was at the mercy to whatever my mom played in the car…
Which in hindsight was the best of times

Yes, it was! My dad played Memphis blues in the car. My mom played Motown and Stax. When I got my driver’s license and put an 8 track in the car, I played Parliament/Funkadelic, much to the delight of my kid brother!

According to my mom it was Electric Avenue. The goofy 80s song

Born on the Bayou
Was played everywhere I can remember at the time. Was released when I was 4 and in Louisiana, you can only imagine that it was everywhere.
