For me some of the most prefect songs would be "A Day in The Life","Something", "God Only Knows", "Good Vibrations", "Sympathy For the Devil", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Live On Mars". "Ballad of El Goodo"... actually I could go on for days.
As fr a perfect album, I'd nominate Ten Summoner's Tales. For my money that album is such a perfect mesh of amazing songwriting, fantastic performances and brilliant production, from start to finish.

I've always thought "I'll Wait" by Van Halen was a PERFECTLY crafted song from the buildup in the intro, all the way through the outro.

Rock and roll versions of the Hollywood "epic" that have become endearing legendary tracks are going to rise to the top of these lists because they had to resonate and bigger songs tend to be crafted better.

It is somewhat of a cliche that 80s songs are all "overproduced", but this one both embodies and defies that near slur. It is a wonderful song from a better, vanished time.
