Any better 1-2 punch in alternative rock than this?

Esp in the 90s?

I cant think of one. These albums are timeless. Pinkerton got a lot of hate back when it came out, but its a goddamn masterpiece

The first two albums by Pearl Jam, Oasis and Garbage are about the only ones I can think of.
The Green Album is pretty good too - it's far better than the third records by Oasis and Garbage.

Pearl Jam's first 2
Radiohead's first 2
etc...

Pablo Honey was kind of blah.

Notorious B.I.G. had two good ones. Jeff Buckley would have.

Not saying this is obviously stronger but I’ll add Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral into the discussion.

Hard to beat a 1-2 of Blue Album and Pinkerton, especially if the 1-2 has to start with a debut album. Pavement (Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain Crooked Rain) and Modest Mouse (This is a Long for Someone With Nothing to Think About and Lonesome Crowded West) are two others that standout. Belle and Sebastian (Tigermilk and If You Are Feeling Sinister) has a great 1-2 as well, but is a bit more twee than most bands in this thread.

Laugh if you want, but in the rock genre, Third Eye Blind's self titled album and Blue are really good in albums that haven't been mentioned.

Across genres, rap had some strong ones.

Dr. Dre's first two solo albums were The Chronic and 2001 and are both classics.

Outkast with SouthernPlayalisticCadillacMusik and Atliens.

Wu Tang Clan with Enter the Wu and Wu Tang Forever.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I hands down prefer Pinkerton over The Blue Album. Not saying it is necessarily "better" or that preferring Blue is wrong, but Pinkerton is easily my favorite.

Deftones is a good comparison

Speaking of Pinkerton, top 3 songs? They are all excellent, but i think me 3 are:

Tired of Sex
The Good Life
Falling for You

This is the best answer, but Weezer should be included here IMO

Deftones is probably the best comparison. I love Deftones and especially Around the Fur, and it's a great comparison because it went almost opposite of what Weezer did. Adrenaline was the raw album and ATF was the poppy, refined one. Exact opposite.
