In the mid-70's, guys like Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash were DJ's who started messing around with sampling the standard disco/funk tracks, which created the rap sound that naturally evolved into the artists you mentioned. Obviously inner city issues like drugs, racial tension and violence were thrown into the mix during the 80's to cause the vibe to shift a bit from fun breakdancing to gangsta rap.
Deep Sea Diver - Billboard Heart
Friendship - Caveman Wakes Up
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island
billy woods - GOLLIWOG
Fust - Big Ugly

I know this song weirded me out when I was little:

This, and then when it showed up in Zodiac it really creeped me out as an adult.
Diamond Dogs is underrated. The Sweet Thing suite is up there with my favorites.

You also have a lot more choices of things to bet on. Player points, rebounds, assists are all variables that are matchup based and there are enough late lineup changes that Vegas does get beaten more frequently than trying to beat them on rush yards or receiving yards.

While I agree that gambling on the NBA is great in theory (and I still partake), the most frustrating thing is the frequency in which players just sit out the entire 4th quarter due to blowouts. With so many games, 'injury management', and lopsided matchups, it's really tough to bet a line based on 4 quarters of play when guys are only on the court for 3.

It's fricking amazing.

This. It's probably my favorite of the year so far. And thanks for the concert tip. Bought my ticket right away.
Spotify is really good at helping you out as long as you utilize the like button on songs you like. You'll get Discover Weekly, you can listen to the radio station for a particular song, and there's good pre-made playlists to choose from when you go to any artists' page. Outside of that, I'll pick up recs from this board, year end lists from sites like Paste and reviews from Pitchfork.
I've liked all of Zahler's movies (Bone Tomahawk, Brawl at Cell Block 99, Dragged Across Concrete)

Really enjoyed both seasons of The Missing
I laugh every time Andy Reid says 'nuggies' in that State Farm commercial.
While the songs themselves on the soundtrack were really solid, the way they were used in the movie was too much for me. You don't need a catchy 80's song to start every single scene. Sometimes a simple score or no music at all will do just fine.

Neal Francis I've tried to expose this board to him, but so far it's been little traction. NF needs more exposure for sure; he's a real talent

This. Saw him a few months ago at Chelsea’s and a very sparse crowd. It’s a shame because he put on a great show that is tailor made for a full crowd.

Spoon came to mind for me. Has released nothing but good to great material since 1998 in an era where so many indie rock bands have come and gone. One of the most consistent and long lasting bands of this era.
Zach Bryan
Spoon
Big Thief
Kendrick Lamar
Pusha T
Pinegrove
Kevin Morby
Mount Joy
Black Country, New Road
Wilco
There’s some really good stuff on the new album, but the rap and metal songs mixed in between make it a bit of a mess.

If anybody needs something at noon, I just put $5 on UNC -4.5 and $5 on over 26.5 on DK for College Lacrosse. Only because some random guy on twitter said so. Tread lightly.

Random guy on Twitter missed this one

The new album is freaking incredible. Big Thief was always hit or miss for me with me LOVING some songs and feeling a little ambivalent on the quieter singer/songwriter stuff. Thankfully this album swings much more toward the catchy, hooky, jammier side of Big Thief, and I'm here for it.

My feelings exactly. Have always been a fan of their stuff, but this is the first time I’ve been all in after listening to one of their albums.
Prince and Katy Perry stand out to me. Prince from a quality standpoint and Katy Perry from a pure entertainment standpoint. Regardless of what you think of her music, the Katy Perry halftime show was a lot of fun to watch.

DraftKings has a 50% profit boost on the Pels game today for SGP. Normally I’d stay away but the only requirement is 3 or more legs. No minimum odds either.
