if you assholes wouldn't be wasting time debating this, we'd likely have a cure for cancer.

Actually, it is the trivial things which matter most. It is the spice of life, and the things which make life worth living. Humankind has been making music maybe even longer than we can speak. It is the basis of communication, but it also a social construct that is part of what makes us human.

To deny the importnance of art, literature, music, and sports is to deny the very things which make us human and make us alive.

Oh, and take the large stick from your arse and hit yourself upside the head with it.

God dammit, I hate agreeing with Baloo, but

congratulations on your awesomeness.

If only we could understand the importance of telling us how unimportant things are.

Almost certain that his point was that it is a shame people had never heard of Bowie until Nirvana covered The Man Who Sold the World.

Well that i would agree with. Introducing people to Bowie is a good thing. I thought he meant it was a shame people heard of David Bowie. Which would have made me angry. The way this thread has gone i didnt know what to think.

Well that's your opinion. The question isn't who is the best, it is important. Nirvana influenced a shite ton of bands. I don't even really like them outside of Grohl and I'll admit it. Whether it be justified or not, love em or hate em, they were huge in terms of influence and importance.

Love Buzz
Heart Shaped Box
Rape Me
About a Girl
Pennyroyal Tea

Once you remove the feedback and guitar buzz, there are great pop songs unerneath the fuzz. It's sneaky pop. And writing ood hooks is hard.

To clarify -- yes, I meant it was a shame people needed Nirvana to discover Bowie. Bowie is indisputably awesome, and is in the running for Coolest Human Being Who Ever Lived (Cary Grant and James Dean are in clubhouse).

Also, I didn't mean for H-Town to remove the stick from his posterior. That was for Ryno. I honestly enjoy legitimate disagreements and debate, but flat out trolling is just obnoxious and reeks of insecurity.

Rock music is so non important that he logged onto TD, and posted about how non important it is.

It's awfully important to be so non important.

No way.

I made no comment on that suggestion.

I believe that's probably right.

We are only going back 25 years(1987). There's not a whole lot of comp.

So you are all about debate unless someone shares a different opinion than you? Lulz. I love music just like the next guy. I played in bands for a long time. I still appreciate many of the bands being discussed on this board. However I firmly hold that that these bands aren't important. It's just entertainment bro. If you are taking it more seriously than that then maybe it's you who needs to remove the object from your rectum. Now excuse me I have to go smash some 300 yard drives.
