'75-79. Freakin' 10/10.
Zep putting out new albums, Beatles fresh off the breakup all putting out cool stuff. Clapton, Boston, Bad Company, Queen, Stones, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, ZZ Top...all at their peak. Cool women like Pat Benatar, Blondie, Linda Ronstadt. Then we had the beginning of new wave and ongoing punks like the Clash, Ramones, the Cars, the Police, the Talking Heads...
So much to mention. And my wife always asks why I play old stuff...

2005-2009: I’ll give it an 8/10.
While a lot of my favorite music from this decade was in the previous years, there are some incredible albums that dropped those 4 years:
Black Parade
Light Grenades
A Flair for the Dramatic
Dying is Your Latest Fashion
The 59 Sound
Blackbird
Somewhere in the Between
Sigh No More
Sky Blue Sky
Cage the Elephant
Riot

Thriller album was released in 1982 and no songs from that album listed, kind of surprising.
I went to a very conservative, all white private school and we just weren't that in to black pedophiles.
To each his own. I guess.

Began high school in August 1976 and finished in May 1980. Boston released their debut album that August, right after I started High School. In my mind, it was a glorious time for music. I'd rate it a 9. But nostalgia is often deceiving, so take any rating with a grain of salt.

Easily a 9.5. Stones, Zeppelin, Allman Brothers, Gaye, early ZZ Top, etc.
Glorious times in music!

Birth of Nu metal. Death of 2pac and Biggie but the rise of southern hip hop. The rebellion against boy bands.
Given the current state of music, 8/10.

Same. The post grunge era was a wasteland but the few albums that were great, were really great... I'd rate it a 6/10. It would probably be more favorable if the radio play of the era wasn't dominated by boy bands, Limp Bizkit and Britney Spears.

Class of '78. Definitely a 10. Blessed to witness all the classic bands/musicians of the era in all genres. So much going on then, the advent of FM radio, Clyde Clifford getting his freak on with Bleaker Street on KAAY (AM, yeah, but what the hell), listening to black preachers on Sunday mornings. Man, there was so much going on back then. We were truly lucky in so many ways to grow up then (great rock concerts for $5, a lid of dope for $15, and on and on). Best time to be a teenager.
