Was I complaining about something? It appears that I was just refuting your claim that he and his music weren’t that political. Which of course is an asinine statement. I happen to know Jason Isbell well. Have hung out and got fricked up with him many, many times. He’s gone bonkers. And if you think like he does you’re bonkers too. That’s not complaining, it’s stating facts.

My response was in response to:
“…he’s just a self absorbed douchebag with a guitar”
That’s Dylan. His music was incredible and he is possibly the best songwriter ever but he was/is an a-hole

he's got like 3 songs that deal with social justice issues/politics. out of 8 albums. yes, he's very polarizing in his political opinions on twitter but it's not like he's putting out tons of politically driven songs.

I am a lucky person sometimes, and one of the luckiest things that ever happened to me, was to get to talk to Bob Dylan for a while, about 30 years ago. He was exactly the opposite of an a-hole, and we were in a room filled with pretentious assholes, who were only there for the society points. He pissed off the self deluded girl who was my date, and he was right. She caught another ride home because I couldn't dispute when he told her" You act like you have a stick up your arse"
I had a demo tape that I worked hard on, just to give to him, but I enjoyed talking to him so much, that I didn't give it. It felt like it would be a cheap thing to do.

Well that’s awesome and it’s nice to hear that he can be enjoyable. Obviously everything I know about him is based on others experiences having never met the man. I saw him once when he was an old man and it was odd. Wish I could have seen him in his prime.

Ive always loved the scene in Dont Look Back where he and Donovan trade songs... The look/smile on his face when he plays It's All Over Now Baby Blue just says.. "You wish you could write a song as good as this!"

My youngest brother was never much of a Dylan Fan, but that same scene blew him away too.

I was buzzing pretty good that night, but I remember the biggest thing we talked about: Placement of music in the stores, depending on if it was a chain, or a locally owned shop. They all had a different way of laying things out, but anything around Dylan's stuff was prime real estate. I dove further into certain bands or artists, just because of where they were located in relation to his stuff.
If I went into a store, and they didn't have anything new by Dylan, I would look around and see what else caught my eye in that general area. That's how I got started listening more to Dwight Yoakam, Dire Straits, The Bodeans and others.
We talked about those other guys music too, and he knew all of it pretty well.

Those guys would be conservative by today's standards. Not so much back then. The problem is that Isabell is a jackass that respects no one and creates problems that don't exist.

I'm not just a member of the Jason Isbell fan club. I liked him so much that I bought the company.

Poor wuddle Isbell’s bitch arse just got himself a ‘breakthrough’ Covid case. Ya just hate to see it!

Am I the only one who finds his music really depressing?

His last album was very political
I guess he really tried to counter conservative values with “what have I done to help”?
Otherwise we have his sobriety, a few break up songs, a death or two, and the kid growing up in dreamsicle?
The dude is very liberal. Some of his songs definitely have that tilt in how they illuminate humanity but let’s not pretend he’s putting out full albums dripping in social justice because he has a couple that are over the top direct in his expansive catalogue and talks shite on social media
