Such a snowflake wuss. Mind your business, male Karen. I don’t like Wallen’s music, but dude has gone through enough BS without this dude weighing in like the damn Gestapo.
quote:

Eclectic Nashville singer/songwriter ERNEST played the Grand Ole Opry Saturday night for the first time. He was later joined on stage by surprise guest Morgan Wallen. ERNEST and Wallen performed their new duet “Flower Shops” The two also enjoyed success in 2021 with Wallen's “More Than My Hometown," which ERNEST co-wrote. Many people, including fellow musician Jason Isbell, took to social media this weekend to express their disdain that Wallen was allowed to perform at the historic venue after he dropped a racial slur last year. Isbell reportedly donated money from Morgan Wallen album sales to NAACP, as he wrote the song, "Cover Me Up."

Isbell tweets:

quote:

Last night @opry you had a choice- either upset one guy and his “team,” or break the hearts of a legion of aspiring Black country artists. You chose wrong and I’m real sad for a lot of my friends today. Not surprised though. Just sad.

Jason Isbell is the anthesis of everything that he thinks he stands for. In his mind he's the heir to Dylan, but in reality he's just a self absorbed douchebag with a guitar.

Jason Isbell would have had his arse kicked by Jones, Cash, Jennings or Owens. This liberal moon bat would be too afraid to show his face in Nashville.

Really? Are there that many out there waiting to break through?

Jason , why don’t you bring them out to open for you in your tours and give them exposure as well.

Isbell is the kind of music the hipsters haunting the breweries and frilly bourbon bars in southern metros listen to while boring their boyfriends with their world cup soccer knowledge.

The guy has a few good songs, but he still sounds like 90% of his music comes off the same, tired template. He's overrated, most of all by himself it would seem.

He should just move on and quit pretending to be country.

He really leans more folk or Americana than country.

Morgan, I don’t give two shits about. But I don’t think he needs to be cancelled for getting PISS drunk and saying stupid shite on a doorbell camera.

He is just another backlash of anti cancel culture. Twatter says burn a guy at the stake and he has enough fans to say frick no. He also gained fans. Not by dropping an N Bomb on his lawn but by people who may have not cared saying “frick it. He can play a guitar and is better than Florida Georgia line or Luke Bryan “.

Isbell thinks he’s Bob Dylan. He’s not. And this is not the 60’s. He sings better than Dylan and can write. But he won’t write Hurricane or Masters of War.

He just chimes in where there was no need. The guy mouthed off while drunk, apologized, and his fans don’t care. Wallen has reached a point where he has been judged and released. Lol. Barring ANOTHER incident of acting like a fool. He will be fine.

Isbell =\= Bob Dylan. But

Wallen =\= Bocephus or Jerry Jeff Walker.

Jason Isbell is uninspiring, bland, and lame. Throw his soy boy bullshite in too of it and I’m not sure why people talk about him or listen to his one music. He’s one of those where it was hip to like him, not because he was worth a shite.

Musically, or literally?

If its the former then obviously, if you're insinuating the latter then you really don't know the politics of those guys

Haggard would have been the correct choice for that.

I love a few of his songs, don't even listen to the vast majority, but if he were half as good as he believes he is then his catalog would be a lot deeper.

I think Stapleton falls into this category for me, too. Most of his original songs feel like they were written to showcase his voice (which is incredible) and not because they were trying to write a good song. His covers are usually good because he is so vocally talented and other people are much stronger songwriters.

He has... Mickey Guyton, Brittney Spencer..

The Opry seems to be all about lip service, however its not surprising... It's all about the $$$ and they know where their bread is buttered..

If I have to like the person to listen to the music, I really would not be able to listen to music.

it's all about the money for the grand ole opry. no one should be defending morgan wallen on this board as his music absolutely sucks arse and he is a dumb redneck that got caught uttering a word that no white person should be saying (or black for that matter)

Ya know it's possible to like some of his songs while not giving a shite about his political views.

Hence the word "some".

Imagine being offended by every artist/person who has a different take on some things.

I wouldn't know but will take your word for it.

Wallen covering one of Isbell's songs already proved my point.
