Isbell should tell Lil Durk how racist Wallen is since they seem to get along pretty damn well, and Durk has been doing a lot of taking up for Wallen. Nothing white liberals like more than to tell minorities when to be offended.

People without principals can separate the art from the artist? No way.

if you're insinuating the latter then you really don't know the politics of those guys

apparently you don't either

Those guys leaned to the left and were true liberals that believed in fighting against "the man" and freedom and doing what they felt like doing

Isbell is a progressive bitch wants to control what people do or say

principal...principle. It's still early out here.

I used to think that I was one of those people...until I realized that Eddie Vedder was never going to STFU.

if conservatives only listened to conservative songwriters, they'd be very limited in what they'd be listening to.

God his music is so good and he is such a good songwriter.

God why is he the way he is? Makes it so so hard to listen......I try to ignore.

But I still listen to Michael Jackson songs when they come up in my Spotify so........

It's not about which side they're on. It's about the need to constantly virtue signal...like this clown Isbell does.

I never felt the need to listen to his music before I had a clue what his politics were. That Americana bullshite has about as much appeal to me as folk music from the 60s, which is none at all.

Haggard and Cash are song writing powerhouses, poets. Both wrote controversial songs that shaped American music. Isbell writes music that panders to a particular audience that doesn't make him stand out among his peers.

Americana
Pretty much the best music for a while now. Just because Isbell's last couple of efforts suck doesn't change that.

I like Isbell. He is incredible live. He's not Dylan with songwriting but he's much better than this thread makes it seem.

This was a dumb take on his part. But if I limited who I listen to based on their political views, I'd probably be cutting out a ton of good music. I'm not really listening to any of his new stuff or buying albums, but this wont stop me from letting his songs play on my playlists.

I'll take your word for it. I started tuning out contemporary music towards the end of the 90s. But Mumford and Sons and similar bands seem like they're just doing their own version of Folk music for the Hipster crowd.

My only exposure to Isbell is knowing that he and the Drive By Truckers were really popular on an Auburn board that I post on. I always assumed that they were a Jam band like Widespread Panic, which isn't really my thing either.

I always find it interesting the number of people who have a bigger problem with someone pointing out racist behavior and issues associated with it, than the racist behavior itself..

I mean it hasn't even been a year yet and they're trotting this guy out on stage at the Opry.. At least act like your words mean something...

If only Morgan Wallen or whatever his name is would claim he was drunk as a skunk and coked to high heaven, maybe Isbell could forgive him.

Lmao. I don’t give a shite about Morgan Wallen. Can’t tell you a song he sings. But isn’t this “Racist behavior” when he was drunk calling his white buddies “n!gga”? If so that’s hardly racist behavior
