ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Cream, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen, Allman Brothers, AC/DC, etc

Steve Miller band had some good riffs, for sure, like the hook in “Jet Airliner”, but they’re wildly overrated as a band. There are tons more catchy riffs out there.

You can't talk about guitar riffs without mentioning Mr. James Alan Hetfield.

Their songs are all corny as hell, but damn I could listen to "Jungle Love" every day. One of the great songs to play while driving on a summer day with the windows down.

They cycled through a few different bassists, but I thought Lonnie Turner was the best and really had some standout grooves on the Fly Like an Eagle and Book of Dreams albums.

Keith Richards, almost every Stones song has a instantly recognizable riff.

If I ever listen to Steely Dan I want you to slice my head off with an Al Jarreau LP.

Good stuff. I also think Foreigner has some super good riffs.

Ha, Steely Dan and Al Jarreau are both awesome.

I saw a documentary that followed Steve Miller around on tour a few years ago. He had a good attitude about being one of those bands you listen to at 14 years old thinking you're cool.

I have SMB's Greatest Hits and I enjoy it because that was music from my teenage years. I'm not sure what I'd think of it if I was hearing it now for the first time. I'd probably think it was sort of lightweight and saccharine.

Miles Davis excoriates Steve Miller in his autobiography Miles. He was not impressed.

I'm always impressed by the rhythm section he had, particularly in the 1970s, whether it was Gerry Johnson and John King, or Lonnie Turner and Gary Mallaber I catch myself being impressed by the quality of the musicians behind Miller.

Heck, before Gerry Johnson, Steve's bassist was a pre-Journey Ross Valory (paired up with Jack King, who later moved to rhythm guitar with the SMB).
