“Don’t Say No” is still in my top 20 albums. Had it on 8-track and wore it out in my 1977 Ford pickup.

Never saw that video back in the day, but holy crap that was weird. I think the bud light trans can person got its dance moves from this vid.

Even without knowing Halford was a closeted gay at the time, Heavy Metal Parking Lot is still amazing.. BUT knowing he eventually came out, makes it all the better.

This guy was aware

Didn’t hurt Rob Halford any.

Rob Halford came out in 1998, 17 years after Billy's fiasco. I just listened to Signs Of Life and it is a pretty big let down to Emotions In Motion and especially Don't Say No (which is great). In 1984, Elton John, David Bowie, Culture Club were all going strong. I think his demise has more to do with the fact that Signs Of Life really only has one hit.

I don't doubt Billy Squire is a talented musician but I saw him in the early 80's in Augusta Ga and it was the most pitiful concert I ever attended. After they finished a song I could have dropped a dime on the floor and half the people in the arena would have heard it because of how dead quiet it was.

It was pretty awkward, they just were not resonating with the crowd at all that night. At least the opening act, Saga, was decent

MTV said Christopher Cross was too ugly for TV.

Well, not actually; but once MTV arrived, Cross was in the rearview.

That was just a shitty excuse not to play yacht rock.

I mean, they played the Pogues a bunch.

I can't recall where I heard this, but it wasn't the music. It was his looks.

He was cut from the Wham audition for being “too effeminate”

Holy crap. I'd completely forgotten that this band ever existed. But as soon as you mentioned them, "On the Loose" popped into my head. Mtv played the video for that song quite a bit.

Old Billy is doing just fine. He even has his own guitar line.

I love the Pogues but McGowan's teeth were grotesque. Crime against humanity level bad.

Couldn't stand him. His whiney, bitchy voice.

um, probably thousands upon thousands of them. The only difference in Billy Squier and the millions of one hit wonders that have existed is that Billy had 2 hits, or maybe 3 I guess depending on what your definition is.

I guess I'm just curious on why you singled him out as if having a breakthrough hit and ebing mega popular for a minute then not doing much else the rest of your career is a weird concept or somethign unique to Billy?

If you are gonna dress like a girl, at least do it like the NY Dolls. But he is still in heavy rotation on the AOD channels. Love the drummer.

He got a full set of dentures in 2015... there has to be some medical reason he took so long, pulling out all of your teeth and getting dentures wasn't that expensive back in the day
