Has anyone's music career crashed and burned like Billy Squier's?

He was a big deal in the early 80's then he just disappeared.

I don't even think they play his music on classic rock stations.

They definitely still play “Lonely is the Night” and “My Kind of Lover”.

wut? Those stations are unlistenable, virtually singularly due to The Stroke being played too much.

Man, it seems to me that he still gets considerable airplay, I don't even listen to radio much, but it seems that whenever I do, they play him.
That's not a career, but he's still getting royalty checks.

Legend has it the video for Rock Me Tonite and rumors he was gay, didn't go over well in the hard rock world of the day.

There were, after said video aired. I was headed here to post the same things. I've heard many experts on the matter say Billy's careers tanked because of that music video.

yeah, I was joking, I remember.
Honestly, I liked his music, but I suspected something was janky right from the first.

Billy could both shred and sing.

Classic Rewind on Sirius still appreciates his work.

Wow. Interesting. I remember buying Emotions In Motion and thinking it was a let down after Don't Say No. Billy Squier was the original Bud Light. Who knew.

Squier's song "The Big Beat" has probably the most well known drum break sample in hip hop history

Even without knowing Halford was a closeted gay at the time, Heavy Metal Parking Lot is still amazing.. BUT knowing he eventually came out, makes it all the better.

Zebraman: MADONNA, SHE'S A DICK!

What would you say if you saw Rob Halford right now?
Drunk Girl: I'D JUMP HIS BONES
