Just listened to them both completely.
Estranged is one of the best written rock songs ever in the key F#m. Click below if you haven't heard it in a while.

Dunno about ever, but by far my favorite GnR song. I’ve listened to it at least a hundred times.

Not joking, those felt like the soundtrack of my life at the time. Estranged in particular. I had it blasting constantly.
That line" jumped into the river, too many times to make it home, drifting all alone", seemed like it was written for me.
I was never a huge G-N-R fan, before or after those albums. Those were good though.
"what will happen to you baby?" It's still a legitimate question.

I think “You could be mine” is their best song, period.

Could've stopped right there. Not only is it my favorite GNR song, it is legitimately one of my favorite songs of all times. It's an absolute masterpiece musically and lyrically. It's perfection.

Epic song.
Terrible video. That video broke up GNR.

pretty sure that was already well underway before that video was made.

Baby's got a locomotive
Baby's gone off the track
Baby's got a locomotive
Have to peel the bitch off my back
I'm a huge G'n'R fan, Slash is the reason I play guitar. Sometimes I like these two albums better than Appetite because there is so much more range and progression in the songs.

I believe Slash said on Stern that Estranged was the most difficult song GNR played live.

Estranged is my favorite GNR song as well. This part rings so true for many of us
"When I find out all the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time"

I'm gonna have to be the contrarian. They are both fine albums, but I never really got into them. My musical tasted "evolved" about the time they were released and as a result, I never listened to them a ton.

Once Axl brought out the piano, I was out. No pianos, no symphonies; just guitars, bass, drums, and that voice.
Don't get me wrong. I love Civil War and Yesterday; but those two can't touch anything on AFD (arguably one of the best music albums of all time).

Civil War was written during the Appetite days, it's the only Illusions song w/ Adler on drums.

Nobody is going to say which one they liked better?
