I hate a lot of bands, but for the most part I understand the reasons they are popular...
However, for the life of me... I cant understand hearing a RHCP song and thinking.. "turn that up!" or I need to buy that record/go see them live... fricking hate them!

Over two pages now and no mention of Bob Dylan. Unlistenable. I am disappoint.

Lol reminds of Nick Cave’s quote
“I’m forever near a stereo saying, ‘What the frick is this garbage?’ And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

This would be a really long list. Along with U2 and Bruce Springsteen, I'd add Aerosmith. I hated just about everything they put out after their comeback in the 80s.

Two shitty takes to start the thread. Bad start.

I like Rush, but I completely understand why a ton of people don’t.

Yea, early U2 like Boy, War, October and Unforgettable Fire albums were damn good......we like our anthemic ballads back then. After that they became progressively unlistenable.
Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are classics. If you don’t like those albums you have no soul.

I met a girl in high school in the mid 80s that was a huge U2 fan. I'd never even heard anyone else say that they liked them but she was obsessed with them. At the time, to me, they were just "that political band from Ireland that pops up on Mtv every now and then".
The U2 obsession aside, she was pretty psycho and a month or so after we quit going out, The Joshua Tree comes out and U2 is all over the place. I still can't hear any songs off of that album without thinking about her and getting a little creeped out.

Joshua Tree is when they started going down hill.

For me it’s U2
You’re about to get banned for cracking on Chicken’s band
But for me I never understood why everyone was so all in for AC/DC or Pearl Jam

Shouldn't have been popular anywhere when the face of the band for playing an instrument can't even tune his 4 string instrument

I'm unsure how 17 (18 counting KAFKA) people fail to understand the man was the greatest rock drummer of his generation. That alone should give you an idea why they were popular.
