The Beatles.
why would you get hammered here?

On this board saying you like The Beatles is the edgy, non-conformist opinion

After reading this thread it's almost as if the bands you grew up with are the bands you like.

This is sorta the default for most people, tbh. I've ranted on this in the past and gotten showered in downvotes for saying it, but it's true. The music people listen to when they're in their teens will always be special to them because that music was playing while they were making extremely important foundational memories. As a result, people will always, at least from time to time, return to the music of their youth even if they've "grown out of it" because it becomes a part of who they are. That is why the music industry markets so hard to tweens and teens, they're impressionable, and that music WILL leave a lasting impression.

I'm 30. I pretty much just listen to rock, a little old school jazz, and some 70's style funk here and there, but you know what, if I'm at a bar, and some Webbie, Boosie, DMX, or Lil John comes on, I'm probably going to get down to it because it takes me back to those hs dances, bonfire parties, and college keggers of my misspent youth when "Apple Bottom Jeans" was popular. I didn't even like rap, or listen to hip hop on my own volition, but it still connects with that nostalgia button in my brain simply because it was popular and present during an important period in my life.

Lullabies for stupid adults.

However, the drummer has the easiest gig in music.

U2, Smashing Pumpkins, REM

They have some good tunes.

But they’re bands that are seen as being cool to like.

unsure how 17 (18 counting KAFKA) people fail to understand the man was the greatest rock drummer of his generation. That alone should give you an idea why they were popular.

I'm fully aware that he was some mechanical god on a drumkit for some of us live energy and charisma mean a lot. I understand that his persona was one of intensity but I don't care how flawless and mindblowing his drumming was. He looked catatonic and I hated watching Rush live. I feel the same about someone like Yngwie Malmsteen that plays impossibly but literally just stands there staring at his fretboard making sure he hits perfection. That's wonderful but I don't give much a shite watching it, actually being dynamic on stage counts for something

ACDC. Sounds like the guy is straining to drop a deuce every time he sings.
