Oh there's no doubt I'm going to finish it. This season is apparently better as a binge watch, but I hate doing that, then it's over and I have nothing to watch again. I may have to block out 2 hours and finish it all in 1 sitting, though.

Normally I agree with this. However the way the season is setup, it plays well as a binge since it’s all in one night . I don’t know how you could get to start of service and quit then and not want to see it through immediately

The season ended in about the best way you could...

Makes me appreciate Season 3 and 4 much more because I think it really helped develop the characters for an awesome finale.

Very glad to hear this season is better.

Just finished watching “Gary” finally. Man I just can’t stand Mikey at all and that version of Ritchie. Mikey just pisses me off. Was stressed out in this relatively pointless expedition

I’ll start the actual show tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

When JLC showed up to the Bear I thought all hell was about to break loose even more than what was already going on.

I thought she was going to burn her house down with all the candles- that gave me more anxiety than anything else.

Sugar getting freaky behind the restaurant

When Richie threw the egg, I almost died.

I stayed away from this thread because I didn’t want spoilers, but I’m glad I watched 5-8 in one sitting- it tied up the whole experience nicely. 6-7 are high energy, but not stressful.

Ep 7-8 are an hour each, so it was 3 hours, not 2.

When Ibrahim is on the phone with Albert

Ending was perfect.

I really liked this season. Just a few small things I wasn’t a fan of, but it’s not my show. Carmy got the stars, but says you got 2. They were all losers and he turned them into unbelievable professionals, yet it was all Sydney. She’s the real deal. Her dish was better than anything he ever made. Blah blah blah.

Carmie interviewing for an internship at an architecture firm was.... something.... If I'm the person interviewing him I immediately ask if he has a degree in architecture because that's kind of an important thing to have.

Outside of that, I loved the season...

I will say that Sydney became the character i disliked the most... She is just whiney all the time. Everyone else shows up to work and just does their thing, but she has an existential crisis every time.... like maybe a fast paced high finance restaurant isn't the place for you... maybe you would do better in a chili's where the menu is just basic stuff.

The whole time I thought it Carrmie pitching an idea for a Bourdain style book of a tell all of fine dining

And then it got into architecture like oh? Ok we just say we are a skywalker now? Just doing whatever with no experience or studying or higher education on the topic .

Totally threw me off

Watched 4 episodes last night and just finished up the last 4. My favorite season yet. Just presented beautifully. My anxiety level was through the roof.

I thought ep 7 was on par with Forks. One of the single greatest episodes of television that I’ve seen. And the season as a whole was on the level of the first couple seasons.

What?

None of Carmy, Richie, nor Marcus ever stopped having existential crises during shifts. It's not a focus of main conflict, but all Tina does during season 4 is quietly deal with an existential crisis.

Can’t stand Sydney. Worst character by far and the critics love her

Am I the only one that gets annoyed with Ritchie? He gets on my nerves

I dunno if Sydney is "constantly whining", but she definitely has that 16-20 year old speech cadence that grates on my nerves

this

Finished episode 8. Fantastic ending. This is how you end shows in the final season. Don't introduce a bunch of new characters in the final season. Just finish telling the stories of everyone who has been there from the beginning. Cheese was the only new character and she was great with the computer.

Love the nod to Rob Reiner at the end. "As you wish"
Love the fake out with the Michelin guy from season 4. They made you think it was that pretentious guy who ordered the 97 bottle of wine with the Weatherman. Even though season 3 and 4 were just ok. This show will go down as one of great shows of our time.
The bear has like 6 of the greatest episodes in tv history.

You go to hell. Ritchie is the best character on the show.

Richie has one of the best TV arcs in television history. How can anyone hate Richie is absurd.
