Just finished it. Good season for sure, hate Carmy is leaving and they are giving all the credit to Sydney. She fricking sucks and was “running the show” for one night (the 2 stars were awarded from a service months previously) and she was a scared bitch half the time per usual.

How anyone likes her character is beyond me

Richie is tGOAT but his immature talking/cussing constantly def wouldn’t fly in a Michelin restaurant

I'll be the naysayer, I didn't love it. I've defended The Bear a lot but it just never recaptured me. The season was well-made. But not for the brooding emotionalism of the last few, this would have been fine. But it was a better version of more of the same, and I was already fatigued of it.

And yeah, I just can't get behind the Sydney/Carm arc. It seems like it was written for a big swath of the audience who blithely takes "oh the bitter guy stepped aside and let the Michelin stars and the restaurant go to the earnest coke short ribs caterer girl" as some some moral win. I'm not in that group. But worse, I think it takes a nuanced, thoughtful show and dumbs it down. I'm sure that it's supposed to be a "look, someone can be from an atypical background and play nice and still achieve at the highest level" (contrast to Carm and the industry generally at elite levels) but then they forgot to ever show her achieving at the highest level.

I think the showmaking was very good. Writing was, at times, strong (definitely wore on me). I think it deserved a better story down the stretch, though.

Finally got to watch the last season. I actually avoided it because several people here shite on it so hard that it made me reluctant to ruin a show that I really liked....

That season was frickin great. The number of very subtle callbacks, and the way they very quietly but succinctly closed SO many character arcs.. it was brilliant writing.

I can guess why some people didnt like it .. but i thought that series - from start to finish - was an all-timer. It had stretches of nauseating boredom, but the moments where they 'turned it on' will he hard to top

As someone who complained about the show at times during season 3 and 4, I must say they crushed the ending.
