Would Roose Bolton have not turned on Robb if Robb would have just listened to him?

Roose gave solid advice the whole time and Robb wanted non of it.
When he abandoned Winterfell and let Theon take it I think Roose was completely out by then.
Re watching the early seasons and the wheels got turning.

Also the show didn’t do Roose any justice.
He has long hair, pale white skin, and rolls with pink armor which is badass.
And speaks just above a whisper.

Probably would have anyway. With Robb out of the way he is the warden of the North. If Robb succeeded, the North would have been an independent Kingdom and Roose would have had what to show for it?

I just got to the aftermath scene of the wedding with Roose saying Robb will be “forever young” to Walder.
Just a brutal line

Probably. He realized that Robb was a good leader in battle but still a stupid fricking teenager who would make emotional and impulsive decisions that would cost him his life eventually.
Roose is a traitorous bastard but Robb was also incredibly stupid and brought it on himself

It's a legit question. I think Roose was always gonna be opportunistic and as soon as the opportunity arose he wouldve turned on Robb for whatever he could get.

Probably, he was going to take whichever side won so if Rob had stayed on target he’d have most likely stuck with Rob,

I don't know. I believe somewhere they say that Boltons are hard to trust and they have been a thorn in the side of the Starks forever. Tywin gave Roose an offer he couldn't refuse. Roose would have never turned down Warden of the North and Winterfell just to stay loyal to Robb, who was kind of a stupid teenager.

Eh it depends. Roose was always going to choose the side that benefitted the Boltons, a lot like Tywin with the Lannisters. At the beginning, especially if they linked up with Stennis or Renly, I think the Starks had a good chance of winning and getting granted their freedom in the North, which I think highly appealed to Roose. He hated the Starks as all Boltons do but he was also a Northerner and he hated the Crown almost as much. Plus, having to only have to deal with the Starks without worrying about the Crown backing them would be beneficial to an uprising against the Starks.
I think for a small part of the early part of the war, Roose believed this was the winnable path and the path that benefitted them the most. But right around when Robb let Jamie escape and Renly died was when I think he immediately started looking for a way out, but still kind of believed they might could pull it off since everyone was still mostly at odds. But when Stannis lost and the Tywins and Tyrell’s united is when I think he went full on revolt + Robb being stupid and not marrying the Frey girl was just the final straw

The Boltons have a long history of betraying the Starks. There's even said to be a secret chamber in the Dread Fort where they have old Stark skins they used to wear after one of their historic betrayals. They are always looking for a way to supplant them, so I think Roose would have betrayed Robb in almost any event.
I think the real beginning of the end was when the Lannisters allied with the Tyrell's, especially after Stannis was crushed at Blackwater. At that point, those two armies outnumbered the combined armies of the remainder of Westeros.

I think he turns on Robb regardless. Once Tywin flashes the Lannister gold, it’s over. Same goes for Walder Frey.

Robbs downfall was his marriage. Or at least was the nail in the coffin. There was no way of winning after that since they needed the crossing. Roose knew that was the momentum shift as well.
At least in the books Robb was smart enough to not bring his wife and show her off in front of Walder Frey.

It also gets glossed over that Jayne Westerling (Talisa in the show) is Maggie the Frog's great granddaughter who almost certainly used a magic spell or potion to make Robb fall in love with her. It was all set up between Tywin and Jayne's mother, a Spicer whose House was made by Tywin's father years before.

Did they absolutely really need to cross at the Twins? Why not just continue down the Kings Road

I don't think the Bolton's would leave the Dreadfort. Sure, they would take the title of Warden of the North but that would come with the Dreadfort becoming the seat of power in the north.

Was this in the books?

quote:Yes. In the books, Jaime speaks to Sybell Spicer about an 'arrangement' between she and Tywin. She doesn't mention what it was but assures Jaime that she made sure no heir was produced between Jayne and Robb. She said Tywin promised her a high marriage for Jayne and Jaime grants it.
Was this in the books?
Remember, Robb met, fell in love with and married Jayne in the span of about 6 days, forsaking a marriage betrothal and shattering an alliance to do it. The fact that he was a Stark makes it heresy, basically.
Was she just that hot? On the show, Maggy the Frog is a woods witch, basically. In the books, she's the wife of a wealthy spice merchant whose son is raised to lordship by Tytos Lannister. She does still have well-known magical abilities, and this is why people like Cersei know who she is. The tent Cersei visits is one of the tents set up for the big tournament at Lannisport (the one Ser Jorah won) for the lords and ladies.
So Maggy's new Lord son has a daughter, Sybell, who marries a Westerling and has Jayne. It's not stated outright but it's heavily implied that they still have magical abilities and used them to entice Robb, who again, committed Stark heresy just to marry Jayne.
So no, but yeah.

Roose would have still turned on him. Roose despised the Starks and has been plotting their demise for decades at this point. He saw the opportunity with Tywin and Walder and he took it.

Fat Walda. My lord of Frey offered me my bride’s weight in silver for a dowry, so I chose accordingly.
