Deadpool and Wolverine was definitely a comedy.

True comedy movies, no. If you look at the list of highest grossing comedies, the top ten are:
Barbie - $1.4 billion
Deadpool & Wolverine - $1.3 billion
Hi Mom (Chinese movie) - $841 million
Deadpool 2 - $785 million
Deadpool - $783 Million
Detective Chinatown 3 - $686 million
Men in Black 3 - $686 million
Men in Black - $589 million
The Hangover part III - $586 million
The Mermaid (Chinese) - $553 million
Ted - $549 million
Original comedies grossing a ton of money are few and far between so I don't see a lot of studios pulling the trigger on them.

Bridesmaids and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates seem like the last two good ones.

No.

I don't understand the argument that Deadpool and Wolverine isn't a comedy?
Is it a Judd Apatow comedy? Obviously not.
But if you are asking for a "blockbuster" comedy, Deadpool and Wolverine is it.

Forgot about this one

I just think it’s a pretty specific comedy (super hero setting). It’s not a “here are some people in the real world in over the top, funny situations” comedy.
Like my wife and I would never go see that because we aren’t in to super hero movies. We went to see hangover, forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc. frick I’m old.

Its essentially a buddy cop comedy disguised a super hero movie

I’m not arguing that it isn’t a comedy. I’m just saying that a lot people aren’t going to go see it that would see a comedy in a more “traditional” setting just as a lot of people who weren’t specifically looking for a buddy comedy will due to their affinity for superhero movies.

I don't think we mean the same thing when we refer to "blockbuster comedy."
Deadpool is a comic book movie first and foremost. Deadpool is a lot of other things too. I guess you can make an argument for it, but it's also extremely violent and full of gore, which was never part of big comedies of the past...was it?
When I think of Blockbuster Comedies, I think of movies like:
Ace Ventura
Dumb and Dumber
The Hangover
Old School
Tropic Thunder
Superbad
Anchorman
Step Brothers

This is obviously not the type of movie he is referring to.
He is referring to movies like Superbad, 40 year old virgin, Anchroman, Wedding Crashers, 21 Jump Street, etc

The future of those movies is straight to streaming most likely. They always made their money back through rentals.
Now they would have to be something that can be made cheaply (which was usually the case anyway) to get people to stay subscribed to your streaming service.

Step Brother is the last one that comes to mind
Step Brothers wasn't a "blockbuster" comedy. But I get what you're say, and yes, comedies like that are essentially dead. We aren't getting anymore Superbad, Anchorman, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Zoolander, Dodgeball level good comedies anymore. Much less on a consistent basis.
I didn't see it but Barbie for sure fits the blockbuster comedy criteria though.
Jojo Rabbit was probably the funniest movie I've seen in recent memory and that was 2019 and for sure wasn't a true laugh out loud comedy. More witty than dumb comedy.

Right.
Because we are all the same age and those are the comedies we grew up with.
Things evolve.
I think half of those movies would get made into streaming series nowadays.

No Hard Feelings fits the genre OP wants i think. Came out last year
Friendship with Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd is supposed to be a straight comedy as well
All these movies with whacky setups like talladega nights turn into streaming shows tho.
We had twisted metal and what we do in the shadows (movie and now a show)

Well yes, but also because they stopped making comedies like that.

Tires is a good example. A show like that could have been a comedy movie 15 years ago.

I don't think so. Due to streaming services, I don't think comedy is a genre that many want to flock to theaters over anymore.

Thank you, this is precisely what I was talking about. Original comedy movies, made for theater, with names like Sandler, Carey, Farley, etc.
The 80s, 90s ans 00s were filled with these movies. Dumb and Dumber, Happy Gilmore, Caddyshack, Tommy Boy, Old School, etc
The other thing is there is no more modern day Jim Careys or Adam Sandlers anymore. They just don't exist. I'm sure someone will throw out some obscure comedian no one knows, but everyone knows knows the type of movies I'm talking about and the type of comedic actors I'm talking about.
Barbie, Deadpool, sequels, superhero movies, etc don't fit the mold.

Andy Samberg is that guy for the younger generation. He made Hot Rod and recently the Palm Springs movie.
Also came from SNL
