Why did Luke show more sadness over the death of old hermit Ben Kenobi...

than he did his own aunt and uncle?
I've watched Star Wars at least a dozen times... and I just realized that he gave two shits when he saw bar-b-qued Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. But as soon as old hermit Ben gets taken out by the freak in the black mask, he's all like, "I'm so sad. I really loved that guy."

His Aunt and Uncle were trying to keep Luke from joining the academy and fighting the Empire. Something he really wanted to do.

You'd be pissed too if you wanted to transmit your application to the Academy and that a-hole made you stay on for another harvest, even when you have more than enough droids to do the job.

And what exactly did the Stormtroopers use to kill them? We never saw anyone else incinerated like that again that I am aware of.
And it always cracks me up when Obi-wan is talking about the Stormtroopers precision shots on the Jawa slaughter. They can't hit the broadside of a barn.

Because Owen was an asshat. Beru seemed like she was a subservient wife, probably couldn't say much without the fear of a back-handed slap.

He wasn't sad. He was scared.
He was now on the hook for Han and Chewie's payment for the transport and, since he didn't have any problems running his mouth while Kenobi had his back, was probably crapping all over himself thinking about what Chewbacca was going to do to him.

Ben was the first man to show young Luke how to really use his Saber. His Uncle had forbade it. No brainer.

Dude... as soon as he figured that the stormtroopers were searching for the droids and would lead them to home he took off risking life and limb... Kenobi even told him that was stupid for he would have been killed and the droids in the hands of the empire.
Your premise fails...
ETA: plus seeing Obi actually vaporized and with a blaster in his hands and the whole "Run Luke Run" made the scene appear more dramatic.
