Which is better? The Office or Parks and Rec

I finished the Office last year and was recommended to watch Parks and Rec...
I'm about half way through Parks and Rec and I can't decide which is better
The Office was just great but I think Parks and Rec just has an amazing cast...
The Office was hurt significantly once Steve Carrel left and they seemed to just depend on Jim, Pam, and Dwight
Thoughts?

The Office at its peak > Parks and Rec at its peak

I still rank The Office as the better show. Season 2-5 is pure greatness and I would put those seasons up against any tv show.

The Office probably has one of the greatest peaks for a sitcom ever, seasons 2-3 were basically flawless.
P&R, after season 1, was probably more consistent from beginning to end. It has the better core cast and some outstanding minor characters that kill it every time they make an appearance.

I enjoyed both, but I'll give the edge to The Office.

agreed, I find Parks and Rec seems to be consistent throughout each season...
Many people have tried to convince me Parks is better, but I just find my self watching episodes in seasons 2-5 consistently... just too good

I think Parks and Rec sustained a better run of story lines for longer than The Office did. But The Office with Michael Scott might be one of the best recent comedies of all time. Parks and Rec is definitely well worth the time to binge again and again.

The Office is top 5 of all time. I wanted to think Parks had a chance, but it's not even close. The humor was forced, and a ton of recycled jokes from The Office. Just didn't invest in the characters/storylines of Parks the way I did with The Office.
Ron Swanson was a great character, but he couldn't do it alone.

I'm going to go with Parks And Rec by a narrow margin.
Very narrow.

Not to take anything away from Parks and Rec, but I just cared more about the characters in The Office. When Michael Scott left the show, it was probably the most upset I've ever been from a sitcom. The scene with Michael and Jim was heartbreaking. Gets me sad just thinking about it.
Goddamn that still tears me up.

I lean towards Parks and Rec even though I love both. I feel like I had more laugh out loud moments than The Office.

This is a familiar theme, but I'd say the office had higher highs and its peak run was better. However, it also had some BAD down periods, whereas P&R really only had season 1, and it was just 6 episodes.
Basically when michael leaves the office it goes into the shitter and stays there for a while. Also once jim and pam get together become a bit less likeable and after they're married with kid they're insufferable. P&R got good in season 2 and stayed good until the last episode.

Considering the Office sucks. It is parks and rec by lightyears.

quote:right. except its peak lasted over at the bare minimum 4 seasons. seasons 2-5 are unfrickwithable
its peak run was better.

The office was almost flawlessly cast with the exception of Jim and Pam (not terrible themselves).

Loved both but would probably give a narrow edge to The Office.
