I'm not. You would be a terrible prosecutor.

What facts? You still haven't presented any actual physical evidence that they were involved with the attack on that jogger.
Would you believe me if I told you there were more types of facts than physical evidence? If you're willing to make that leap, there have been facts posted throughout this thread

I think Ken Burns did a doc about this.
I think it was said that there was only evidence that one person dragged her and raped her.
The boys were at other points in the Park terrorizing other people (beating them etc but no rape)at the time the woman was raped/beaten
I will have to watch this and rewatch the Burns doc on PBS.

Controversial confessions, sure.
There's a shite ton a reasonable doubt in this case. There's no way a jury could logically convict today if this case were in court in 2019.
I'm not sure why fat kid is so sure of himself unless he has some kind of underlying bias against the defendants.

The farthest I'm willing to go is attempted rape or rape conspirator (if there is such a thing). They definitely were involved. There is no doubt about that at all.
So a serial rapist who committed multiple rapes alone, confesses to the crime, DNA evidence links him to it; yet you want to toss around the words "definitely" and "no doubt"?

Because you didn't realize some people who post on the Poli Board actually come equipped with facts and evidence to support their views?

With that being said, thank you for your informative posts in this thread. I had drawn conclusions on this matter that I now see were wrong and affected by my own personal bias. (this is a serious post)

The liberals in this thread sure are testy. These central park guys are their heroes bc Netflix told them so and bc Trump.

I'm surprised it took until page 6 for someone to throw out the "liberal" thing. As if the proper application of justice is a liberal/conservative argument.

My contention is that they are guilty of rape even if they did not specifically rape her. I've never made the claim that they actually performed the rape. Their actions led to someone being raped. They deserved to be punished for that.
Holy shite what a dumb count

Does it matter to you that the DNA evidence was presented at trial as not belonging to these men, and yet they were still convicted? If the fact that the DNA did not belong to these men was exculpatory, then why did the juries still find them guilty?
In 1989, most lay people had no concept whatsoever of DNA analysis or its significance.
But at the end of the day, this was the “brown scare” era in NYC. A plumber with an IQ of 80 could have gotten convictions in this case in NYC in 1989.

Just a quick glance at his post history...none of this is surprising.

If we had decent Pre-Cogs this wouldn't be an issue.

They definitely were involved with, at the very least, the assault and robbery committed against the jogger, and there is no doubt about that. Does she get raped if those things don't happen? Maybe. Is it much easier for her to get raped because she was already beaten within an inch of her life? Absolutely. They are culpable and deserved their punishments. I will reiterate a statement I made earlier in this thread: The one guy who WAS NOT convicted of rape received the longest sentence. These guys were not over-charged and were not over-punished.

It's still amazing to me that you guys are honestly trying to pretend that people didn't understand what sperm was in 1989. We're talking about sperm here. People were totally capable of understanding "the sperm didn't match any of these defendants" in 1989. Ridiculous assertion.

Why don't you go look up the racial breakdowns of the juries in these cases and tell me more about this "brown scare" you speak of.
I swear. It's like facts are completely unnecessary.

I’m amazed at both sides of this debate.
6 pages and not one person brought up Reyes confession?

I didn't mention that he confessed? I'm pretty sure that was discussed at one point.
