A LION IN THE HOUSE is a feature documentary spanning six years in the lives of five American families who each have a child fighting cancer.

Know I'll catch some shite over this but I can't get through "Click" (yes, the Adam Sandler movie) without getting a huge lump in my throat. It reminds me of losing my dad.

Nocturnal Animals is pretty sad along the lines of Mystic River.

Growing up there was a movie called Fluke that had a dad die in an accident and he came back as a dog and sought out the family And became their dog.

Yeah, I don’t even know why a person would subject themselves to this one. Yikes.

Simon Birch

I came here to post this. The saddest I have ever been in a movie theater was while seeing Simon Birch.

Not a movie, but there’s a Disney short called The Little Matchgirl which is by far the saddest thing I’ve seen on film.

Sophie's Choice comes to mind of those not already mentioned. Holocaust movie where a mother, Sophie is forced to choose between her young boy or girl will live or die in a concentration camp.

Agree with AI. I was dating a woman with an autistic child at the time. The young boy's portrayal was akin to how many autistic kids view the world.

shite, I just read the synopsis of the novel and I cannot understand why someone would willingly read/watch this story lol

Movies and books don't have to be all sunshine and roses for me. In fact, I really enjoy dark subject matter, but this one would be too much for me and I'm not sure I'd receive any entertainment value from the story.

I'm guessing no ones saw this because it's unbearably sad.

In honor of Armistice Day, Gallipoli.

Dr. Zhivago is also near the top of the list.
