I’ve got a few
As a child, watching Ghostbusters in 1984 and then Back to the future in 1985 was awesome.
As a teenager, Jurassic Park was incredible on the big screen
As a young adult who was in the Army, Saving private Ryan left me speechless.
In my adult years, Star Wars: The force awakens had me giddy like a child. I enjoyed that movie although it wasn’t great.
And lately Top Gun: Maverick. Great sequel to the original.

Terminator 2. I remember the theater was packed and I couldn't leave my seat to go to the bathroom even though i really needed to. Didn't want to miss any of the action lol

In the early 1950s my dad was at Southeastern, but took a couple of courses he needed one summer at Tulane. One weekend Mom took us three kids on the GM&O Rebel passenger train to New Orleans to visit Dad.
One of highlights was Dad taking us to see Winchester 73 at the Saenger Theater. I was blown away by that experience. I had been to movies in Bogalusa, but the Saenger was so much greater.
That experience has stayed with me all these years.

The hype for Fellowship of the Ring was off the charts for me, huge Tolkien nerd and followed development of the movies for years. Right along with Fellowship was watching the st Jurassic Park. Remember thinking, damn they can do anything now in a movie.

The Phantom Menace, Jurassic Park, and Batman (‘89) are some that come to mind.
Most of my favorite movies are from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Jaws, Raiders, Star Wars, Rocky, Smokey and the Bandit, etc. I was born in ‘78. So while I grew up on those movies in the years following their release, I’m not quite old enough to have appreciated their theatrical run.

Jurassic Park was the first movie I ever saw in theaters (I was 5 I think), and I still remember being blown away by the experience.
As far as a terrible experience I would say the remake of IT. We were in a theater full of middle-aged teens and they all screamed every few minutes. Really made it hard to enjoy the movie.

Easy, South Park.
We would routinely be dropped off by parents who bought the tickets and that allowed us to watch R-rated movies. South Park was literally the first movie ever where they changed the policy where a parent HAD to go with you. This was pre-cell phone so we were kind of stuff there, and we ran into a substitute teacher (who was black and like 28) who told management he was our dad.
Then we go to watch the movie, which, including being highly entertaining and funny as frick, was about preventing kids from watching a movie. It was so meta and fun and just amazing. Cried from laughing multipe times.

Though it doesn't necessarily need to be viewed on a big screen.....I think most memorable theatre experience was the first "Grumpy Old Men."

Interstellar in theaters was incredible. Wish they would bring it back
I saw it in regular opening night while I was traveling for work (in Houma) of all places.
Then I went back home and saw it in an imax and that was peak viewing because I wasn’t trying to understand the plot for the first time just soaking in the soundtrack and visuals. I was pretty sour on the last act at the time, but i’ve softened on in the last few years to being a love story between a son and daughter instead of a scientific perfectly told story.
Home alone was the first movie I ever got really really hyped about though and we went as a family to.

I am old and have seen a ton of movies in theaters. Maybe the best ever was a few years ago- I took my kids to opening night Infinity War. Jam packed theater. The crowd erupted when Thor arrived in Wakanda- and you could have heard a pin drop when everyone began crumbling to dust- all the way to when Thanos smiles in his garden. Crazily powerful for a comic movie.

My dad took me to see “Patton” at the old Crosstown Theater in Memphis when the movie was just released.
It was the only time I know of that he ever stepped foot in a movie theater.

Star Wars. I was 10. It was only my second movie theatre experience. My neighbor and I just sat there with our mouths open for like 5 minutes after. Matrix close second. I had zero idea what it was about and had been talked into going.

I have an unusual selection, but for me it was War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise.
I was in college at LSU at the time and me and a buddy smoked a bunch of weed and went to see this movie. I don't know what it was, but I think the high just peaked at the exact right time during the movie because I'll never forget how awesome that movie was and we were just sitting there in complete awe. The scene where they are in the basement hiding from one of the walkers absolutely blew my mind. We walked out of there like Keanu... "Whoa."![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

1. I used to go to at least one, and lots of times, two or three, movies every week, so I saw everything. I took a girl to a terrible movie called Soul Man (1986), with neither of us knew anything about it except it was a comedy. It ended up being about a white guy pretending he was black so he could get a Harvard scholarship. He, and a black girl, played by Rae Dawn Chong, fall in love during the movie.
The reason the movie is so memorable is because the girl I took was black and I'm white. When it was over, and the lights came on, it felt like everyone in the building was looking at us. We both started laughing about it. I told her I was wondering if they thought it was "Our" movie.

Lord of the Rings, first one. College buddies and I went to the Westwood theatre off Congress. Place was busted, but was a movie palace. I didn’t know much about LOTR, but that movie blew my mind.

Prob ET or one of the first couple Star Wars flicks.
My dad and I went and saw Terminator 2 on vacation one year. It wasn’t opening day but we both left thinking it was the greatest movie we’ve ever seen.
In college, me and some teammates went and saw The Program. Was one of the best times I’ve ever had.
Worst: Matrix 3. Went opening night and was super pumped. Movie sucked balls.
