That Finn waking up scene and walking through the halls was horrendous too.

Watch if without TLJ in mind and it's not that great.
We go from universal peace in 6 to armageddon in 7 with no explanation.
This doesn’t bother me. I assume there is a story there that just hasn’t been told yet.

Luke throwing Anakin's saber, and any respect I had for Rian Johnson, in the ocean.
I didn’t know a lot about Johnson before this, didn’t see Looper. After this scene, and throughout the rest of the film, I became convinced and now believe that Rian Johnson was either trolling the audience or is a complete hack.

The "jokes" from Poe at the beginning let me know it was going to be lame, but the casino bullshite is what really killed the movie.
Still better than Blade Runner 2049.

Or, have Internet.

I think he hates Star Wars

Kylo is a terrible villain. Just awful.
Adam Driver is basically playing Revenge of the Sith Anakin how he should have been played. However, petulance isn't enough for a big baddy.

Looking back to December, I don't think there was a specific point in the film where I realized I was watching the downfall of one of my favorite franchises. I just remember being really pissed off as the credits started to roll. I then started to think back over the last two and a half hours and realized as I left the theater that my anger toward the film was justified. My anger for the film rose the more I thought about it.

The opening scene with Poe and Hux started the downward spiral. The humor was forced and out of place, as was the majority of the rest of the "humor" in the movie.
When Luke tossed the saber over his shoulder, I knew the movie was going to suck pretty bad.
Then came space cow titty milk, and that pretty much did it for me.

Leah in space really irked me, but the one that completely took me out of the movie was the stampede through space vegas.

Leia in space --> Rey defeating Luke in melee combat --> Luke refusing to leave the island with Rey --> Luke dying via exhaustion from force projection.

When the credits started to roll at the end.

For whatever reason, Rian Johnson appears to have based every single thing about TLJ around the idea of not giving the audience what they expected going in. To wit:
-Audience expected Leia to be killed off since Carrie Fisher died in real life: NOPE
-Audience expected Luke to emerge from retirement and reestablish himself as the galaxy's sole Jedi: NOPE
-Audience expected Yoda to show up and chide Luke for not taking a more active part against the First Order: NOPE
-Audience expected Snoke's motives and master plan to be revealed, setting up the main conflict of the entire trilogy: NOPE
-Audience expected Rey's parentage to be revealed, adding some dramatic tension: NOPE
-Audience expected Kylo Ren to have completed his training, becoming a truly overwhelming threat: NOPE
-Audience expected Poe, who was established as the "gunslinger" character in this trilogy in TFA, to do some gunslinger things, get into a lot of trouble, but ultimately save the day: NOPE
-Audience expected Finn to take on a more leading role in the Resistance: NOPE
-Audience expected the movie to, you know, advance the story and point towards the trilogy's ultimate resolution: NOPE
Seriously, I think Rian Johnson started with the above ideas about what TLJ wouldn't be, and only then decided to try and figure out what the movie would be. Can you try to come up with a cohesive plot that meets all the above requirements? Hell if I can.

It really isn't a good movie at all. Not even for all the other bull shite that people like to bitch about.
yeah, the movie was crap. Incel complaints about SJW in the movie is just a tad ridiculous.
The plot was bad, they had so many opportunities to make it a star wars movie and they chose the disney / simple route. The whole chase scene was idiotic, not to mention going to the casino in the middle of it. Oh and the luke fight scene at the end was horrific.

How soon did the prank phone call bullshite take place in the movie between Poe & Hux...because I was emotionally out at that point.

Aside form TFA being so much nostalgia and basic story of A New Hope, this issue was my biggest problem with it. And I think the reason this all happened was the desire to play on fans' nostalgia by including old characters.
Had they jumped forward 200 years post ROTJ everyone we loved would be dead...which is fine. And even if you need or want it to follow the Skywalker line, you can still do that but generations beyond. This way you don't have to bring back old loved characters and actors and either kill them on screen (which honestly no one really wants to see) or have them be fricking lame (Leia Poppins) and it would have forced creativity because you'd have to create all new characters.
But most importantly...it would have given them TIME for the The New Order to actually form and build up to what we saw. the end of ROTJ gives us the impressions it's all sunshine and rainbows throughout the galaxy and yet we see in TFA everything clearly started going to shite at about the time the end credits ended back in '83, otherwise they'd have never had time to build and organize any of what we saw in TFA.

I didn't hate it the first time I saw it I guess because I was just excited to see another star wars movie, but it was pretty brutal the second time around.
Exactly how I felt.

The sum total of the movie lost me. I try to give films the benefit of the doubt, while watching them at least. The over-the-top comedy, Luke's behavior for most of the film, Canto Bight, overbearing Rose and Holdo, and the fact that the film just seemed to dead-end just drained my interest in a 9th saga film. All of the interesting possibilities left hanging from TFA were just thrown away in Episode VIII. Of all the SW films since the original trilogy, this is the worst one in my opinion.
