Mike Myers wouldn't even throw him a bone with a role in the Austin Powers movies.

I think Dana and Mike had a major falling out around the time of the Wayne's World movies. It seemed to me Dana didn't believe Myers was the lead simply because he was used to getting higher billing.

It is easy to tell the people too young to know Carvey did a George senior impression on SNL.

I'm reading a book on the history of SNL (as told thru writers, producers and players' pov), and this was brought up. One of the other players, I think Kevin Nealon, alluded to the fact that you have to be a grade-A a-hole to clash with Mike Myers.

Really? I swear I think I've read several articles over the years that all point to Myers being a complete douche.

I've come to learn over the years that when it comes to people, moreso famous people, you'll often get conflicting stories on whether or not said celebrity is cool or a douche

I've just accepted that we'll never really know either way, so who knows

If Bruckheimer kept him as Mike Lowery in Bad Boys, Dana could of had Will Smith's career.

I don't think he was able to rise from "Master of Disguise". One of the worst films ever made.

Same here. Thought he was one of the biggest pricks to leave SNL.

They must have made up because they did a new Wayne's World segment on the MTV Movie Awards when Mike Myers hosted a few years ago.

That, and you don't ridicule GHWB and expect to have a career, kind of like Piscipo and Hartman ridiculing Sinatra. You either fizzle out or are dealt with.

I think a lot of the "Mike Meyers is a douche / hard to work with" stuff comes from when he hit it big after Austin Powers, as opposed to his time on SNL and doing the Wayne's World films when Kevin Nealon was working with him.

IIRC, most of the complaints about him started around the time of the live-action Cat In The Hat movie and the aborted Sprockets movie, which is why few in Hollywood were sad to see him flop with Love Guru.

yes

i was going to make this point. after AP2, mike meyers was the king a-hole of hollywood (which is saying something)

he's been slightly humbled since then

just google "mike myers a-hole"

LINK

quote:

I had never encountered a celebrity before, and didn't want to be some obtrusive a-hole. But prior to paying our tab I walked over and said "hey Mike, I'm a big fan, can I buy you a beer?" And without even turning to look at me he says " I can afford my own drinks a-hole, save your money for my next movie".

if that's true i'm in love
