Master if disguise was after years of nothing. I don't think he had much of a career before that.

I'm reading a book on the history of SNL (as told thru writers, producers and players' pov), and this was brought up. One of the other players, I think Kevin Nealon, alluded to the fact that you have to be a grade-A a-hole to clash with Mike Myers.

Haven't read "Live from New York" (I'm assuming this is the book you're talking about) in a couple of years, but I think you may have it backwards if only because Nealon and Carvey are long-time friends (they lived together in their standup days and Carvey got Nealon cast on the show) so I doubt Nealon would imply Carvey is/was an a-hole.

Similarly, as most said, Myers has the history of being "difficult" to work with.

I had always read (or maybe its on director's commentary?) that the issue with Wayne's World was that Myers, Carvey, and the director each had different opinions as to what was "funny." It became so combative that they would do three takes of every scene - for each of them - and use the best in editing.

I remember some of his old standup from back in the day, and he was hilarous.

He is also frequenly the subject of blind items in the tabloids as being a closeted bi-sexual. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
