Second the Threads endorsement.

In addition to Threads, this is another one that really stays with you for awhile:
I’m really a heartless bastard, but this is the only movie I’ve ever watched that had a scene that made me tear up.

Contagion was pretty realistic about how society starts to break down once supply chains are disrupted.

The first 10 minutes of Dawn of the Dead is still the best, IMO.

Testament still makes me sad thinking about it. Lucas Haas :(

World War Z was pretty good at detailing the panic. Contagion was pretty good if I remember correctly.
Contagion is a movie I haven't seen since the theatre, but as I recall the panic/social breakdown was very constrained and realistic rather than immediately apocalyptic
Which made it that much more concerning

Sweet. Sergeant Major Gene Vandenham is a true American hero. I'm friends with some of the Ranger Up guys and my cousin was on the film crew.

I'm going to give that a try at your recommendation.
ETA: Is this a 1983 version with William Devane and Jane Alexander I am searching for here?
No wonder I have never heard of it. Sheeeesh was I busy in 1983. Okay, it's free on Amazon Prime I'm going to watch it tomorrow with the wife.

Horror film based on reality.

Just be aware that it regularly gets mentioned on “most depressing/horrifying movies ever made” lists. Not really a very good date movie.

The original or the remake? The remake is one of the few legit horror remakes.

Phase 7: pandemic movie set in Argentina. Excellent film.
The Dead and the Dead 2: zombie apocalypse movies set in Africa and India, respectively. Very interesting and different.
The Rec movies- Zombie Apocalypse in Spain.
Berlin Undead- pretty good- not as great as the first three but worthwhile.
Thirst- has the older brother from Malcolm in the Middle (Masterson). Fairly accurate portrait of basic, problematic situation
The Crazies is great
This is the End- don’t read anything about it if you don’t already know. Just get stoned and comfortable and have a hilarious time.

quote:Just rented “Threads” on Vudu. Im about 30 minutes in. The bad stuff is coming soon Id imagine. I did a little research on this after seeing your post as well as someone else saying to watch this on the 2nd page. Ill give my thoughts on this after the movie.

Edit: kind of had a Chernobyl vibe to it.

Mad max, if society does fall one day soon, it will be just raping and pillaging like the old days. Guys together with guns will easily rule the land
