Some of the cheaply movies, I think you could definitely push them from "campy nostalgic fun", to good.

I'm breaking the rules here but I think the Gaea trilogy (starting with Titan) written by John Varley or Larry Niven's Ringworld would be good on big or small screen.
Provided you don't allow someone given creative control to reimagine the whole creation into something entirely different of course

Already remade as “I am legend”…and apparently it has a sequel coming out I am Legend 2
Apparently the movie follows an alternate ending of the first movie.

Remake of a remake. Omega Man was a remake of The Last Man On Earth with Vincent Price.
None of the three are good. Don’t know why they just don’t follow the book story. It is great and could be one of the best vampire stories ever if they would do it right. The Price one was kind of close.

They shouldn’t even call it I Am Legend. They are missing the point of that title so bad.

Phase IV could be good if done right. Been a few decades since I saw it, but I recall the way they did the ants being more funny than scary.

5 years ago, I would have said The Andromeda Strain. Now...not so much. Others I would consider:
Soylent Green
Capricorn One

The correct answer is of course 'none'.
I'd think you of all people, would want that movie to get the Godzilla treatment- a solid and faithful remake with today's standards.

Too late. They already ruined it with a Snow White approach:

Id really love big budget versions of Laserblast and The Incredible Melting Man.

Logan's Run is the obvious choice but I wouldn't trust a studio to make it today. I would bet my arse they would change the story so that instead of thirty year olds being killed they would have either minorities or gays being killed off instead. There is no way it wouldn't be ruined by wokification today.

1000%
And I guess I should have made that caveat, but I really didn't think it was necessary.
But I don't want remakes in 'current day' Hollywood, but there are rare exceptions.
If done correctly, I'd LOVE to reintroduce those stories to this generation.

I first saw that movie on a National Airlines flight to London in 1977 and loved it.

Not to mention Farrah.
