Please, for the people lacking both intellect and common sense to conduct a simple research or google query just leave now. Don’t ever comeback or please just take a nap and enjoy it for eternity. You have to be some kind of ignorant to not know about 1921 and Tulsa Oklahoma! Just don’t post anymore we don’t need you big babies whining.

Pretty lousy first post. Take your own advice.

The show has nothing to do with the comic, the movie, or the established universe.
Just says "Watchmen" in the title.
It is a show about evil white supremacists fighting saintly black cops.
That's it.
That's not even true. The original Nite Owl even tells the story about how the cops started wearing masks because of the gangs wearing them. The Minute Men were born from masked police.

What I don’t get is why am I watching some local-level bullshite in Tulsa? Where are the Watchmen in the “Watchmen?” Are the costumed cops Watchmen or are they just cops? Is Sister Night a Watchman? Or just a cop? Are there local Watchmen that work with police or something? If so, are there hundreds of Watchmen? Pilot could have helped explain that.
There are no Watchmen anymore. At least not a group of "heroes". If you haven't seen or read anything else previously I could understand why someone would be confused.

Watched the first episode Thursday night. Wasn’t overly impressed so far. Like many have said if this series focuses solely on evil whitey then that’s just disappointing and lazy. A few questions that I have. Is the population of Tulsa now overwhelmingly black because of the events of 1921 or is it the entire country. It looks like the percentages have been flipped. The police department ( at least the meeting we saw) is 90% minority. WTF is up with the panda?
What’s the deal with Black Oklahoma? Is there reverse segregation in this reality? Why did the call it black Oklahoma and not just Oklahoma that happened to be put on by black people? I’m assuming Louis Gossett is the little boy that survived the race attacks in 1921. A lot more questions than answers and several decisions made by the show runners that seemed forced.

I know virtually nothing about the comic ( graphic novel?)
I watched the first episode, and I’m not sure
I “get it”.

Thank you for answering my question. I just wanted to know the connection between the local costumed police characters and the Watchmen.
I only saw the movie, which I liked.

“What’s happened is that Trump has just emboldened people. They were always there, feeling the way they’ve been feeling, but now, oh my gosh,” Watchmen actress Regina King said in an interview.
No one wants their filthy past, their dirty little secret, to come out. A lot of people in these positions of power – white men – don’t even realize it was a problem, or something you should feel embarrassed about,” she added.
The show creator Damon Lindelof, who also created Lost and The Leftovers, has said publicly that he made the show to be as “woke” as possible.
“When I started to think about what ‘Watchmen’ was going to be, trying to think about it in the original source material, the book was highly political,” Lindelof said to the Television Critics Association this summer. “What in 2019 is the equivalent of the nuclear standoff between Russia and the U.S.? It felt like it was undeniably race and policing in America.”
Yeah. I’m out.
I’m fine with Hollywood thinking they’re smarter and better than me. It’s when they actually put it in words that really turns me off.

I've been told that not liking to be preached to about a problem that isn't really a problem makes you a fragile butterfly and a pearl clutcher. Take your indoctrination and berating like a man, whitey.

God I hate politics. The book was not "highly political." I enjoyed episode 1 but it frustrates me that a show creator bases a story continuation off of his own interpretation instead of the authors. No wonder they didnt want anything to do with the show.

I know it’s a trope but I dropped my HBO subscription this week. I thought I would hold out after GoT ended.
GoT ended as a dud. Big little Lies S2 was unnecessary. Ballers turned into a big wokefest. Again, I’m fine with Hollywood knowing better than me, but the comments from King just remove any desire to keep watching. Even though they’re another woke company, I’d rather give my money to Disney+, where I at least know there’s a lot of content I want.
I was holding out for this and Dark Materials but it’s just not enough to keep me for $15 a month.

Ohnoez, Orange Man Bad. And you are, too.

If you're white, you should be embarrassed by the sins of men who are long dead. And you should share some responsibility for it. Again, this show doesn't have a story line, it is divisive political messaging dressed up in stylish costumes.

It's a shame they ended such a great series so poorly.

You are an idiot and I just read a few of your posts. You guys just know everything and if someone disagrees they are wrong.I gave this show a shot and like the leftist media/HBO it's all about pushing the liberal agenda and not about the story anymore. Goodbye HBO

Apparently reading isn't your strong suit.

I said I would watch a couple or three episodes before I axe it. Why do you care if I watch anyway? You prejudged my motivations to begin with, didn't you butterfly?

Because you’ve already dismissed it as political messaging and now we’re in danger of your weekly bullshite as you hate-watch this series.
You judged the series based on the promos and said you were going to pass on it. Then you watched it anyway and dismissed it again. We really don’t need you coming in here each week to explain how wrong this series that you don’t want to watch really is.
It would be great if you moved on to discussing something that you enjoyed, or at least something new for you to dislike.
We’ve heard your one take on this series. It’s time for you to move on.

I watched the first episode to see if my initial impression was valid. It is. The words of Lindelof and Regina King directly support my take of what this show is about. I'll be in this thread as long as I feel like commenting. You are not the arbiter of what gets discussed. Maybe you shouldn't judge people based on your preconceptions, pearl clutcher.
Show related, do you believe that white supremacy is the modern day equivalent of the threat of nuclear destruction? How valid do you believe the premise of the show is?

I never said that. I said that the imminence of nuclear war was amped up in the graphic novel and that they were amping up race relations in this series.

ETA: And please, I’m begging you, please go back to the poli board. You’ve come here to obsess over this one TV series and you’re not helping anything.
