Villains who got a pass later on

The biggest example is likely Vegeta from DBZ. Dude went from casually watching Goku's friends and entire cities getting murdered, to murdering an entire clan on Namek, to basically being a hero by the end of the Cell saga.
Also Loki, who has done this in both the current comics and in the movies...

piccolo did more damage to earth than vegeta. He conquered the damn planet and killed the dragon yet his reincarnated body kidnaps a 5 year old only to save said 5 year old's life in a later fight and poof, he is a good guy now.
