Lois and Meg stayed mostly the same. Peter got more outlandishly stupid but his intelligence varies greatly depending on the needs of the plot. Stewie definitely changed.

Daenerys Targaryen went from an abused, young, innocent girl finding her inner strength to a genocidal, incestual, tyrant with a psycho pavlovian response to bells.

On that same token, Jon went from master sword fighting badass caving in the faces of his enemies, to incestuous pussy whipped “muh queen” little bitch. Couldn’t even commit to hitting that juicy arse like Jamie.

Andy Taylor began as a goofy country bumpkin.

Then, as the show hit its prime, he became the wise, kind-hearted father figure in Mayberry.

Then in later seasons (after Barney left), he became the town grouch, always exasperated at the antics of those around him.

I think the writers didn’t originally realize what they had with Don Knotts. He went on to carry most of the comedy in the show and Andy became more of a “straight man” to him.

It was years after the show ended before I realized that Mark Hamill was the voice of Firelord Ozai.

Still not sure how I missed that.

I don't recall how quickly the change occurred on board favorite "The Big Bang Theory," but in the pilot Sheldon wasn't like what he became.

Pretty sure he was "interested" in Penny himself whenever she moved in, and wasn't oblivious to the opposite sex.

Characters have to change on long running programs.

MASH- Hot Lips went from ambitious bitch-enemy to respected pal. Hawkeye went from irreverent drunk slacker doc, to prototype early SJW.

That was all driven by Alda as he gained more control over the show.

A positive example is Luanne Platter from King of the Hill. Started out rough and ended up good for herself.

Fonzie. Went from being a James Dean-wannabe in the first couple of seasons to being absolutely cringeworthy by season 5 or 6.

Would you say his character “jumped the shark”?
