Is it just me, or is there a lot of negative comments about white people?

Have you the faintest idea how indigenous people, such as those in Alaska and Hawai'i, feel about Mainlanders/whites?

i get what you think you're trying to say here, but your comment holds about as much water as does any other argument against this shite being crammed into entertainment. yes, we know how "indigenous people such as those in Alaska and Hawaii" feel about whites. we know how black people feel about whites. we know how women feel about men. we get told over and over. we know. they hate us. we get it. they feel this way, by and large, because they keep getting told what pieces of shite we are over and over in movies and tv shows and by people like you.

that being said, i dont find this to be a valid criticism of True Detective season 4. the black cop makes a comment about "missing white girls" at the end, which is a true phenomenon for a myriad of reasons. it's relevant, and it makes sense in context. other than that, there wasnt much that stood out as being particularly negative about white people, at least in the first episode.

You may be right but that doesn't mean I'm going to watch a fictionalized version of that hatred/envy masquerading as entertainment.

If I want to be preached at, I'll go to church.

Ok fine, but I'm sick of the double standard. You can't talk shite about any other race but its always open season on white people and I'm sick of it.

The first episode wasn’t all that great. Not enough to keep me wanting more at least.

I’ll watch next week. HBO knew what they were doing when they showed the Carcosa symbols in their trailer

I’ve lived on the North Slope of Alaska. They hate white people up there, but they are also tolerable

The show is accurate so far from my experience

She’s Verdean and Native American. So yeah, it makes sense she’d play a Native American character.

Compare her to Bridgett Fonda (edit: I meant Jennifer Jason Leigh) in Fargo, who looks like the joker.

Superior series to the True Detective series in every way.

If we are to assume that “dead” Travis is Rust’s father, I wonder if the little girl that grabs Jodie’s shoulder in bed and awakens her (also in previews under ice and standing on ice) is his daughter that was killed riding a bike or toy on the highway by a vehicle (IIRC)

Show needs a few more f-bombs. 300 per episode isn't quite enough.

Does HBO establish a quota for T&A?
