i'm in. it doesn't appear that it's going to have the same potential/intrigue as S1, so there won't be a corresponding let down

i did sit through season 2 though in all its masochistic glory

i think one major mystery is just how unreliable of a narrator hays is going to be. the splicing of the lights going off in episode one makes me think that when we see the past, it's his recollection of it (and clearly he's not all there)

clearly this is based on the same situation as the west memphis 3, but it appears it's in reverse (the dad seems to be the one arrested based on the post-episode preview). so the dady gets falsely accused/convicted dad but it's really the Satanic kids? (it's very likely that the real WM3 had the exact opposite scenario)

clearly there are issues with the family/daughter of Hays

that little derivation with the family of the missing children was pretty lit. cousin fricking in Arkansas? say it ain't so! it's especially complex when he only married the woman for the kids, and the kids (at least the one who got him stuck there) may not be his.

hell the native trash guy also had a similar family-stuck scenario. maybe that same theme spills into the Hays family (the book comes out in 90, he is forced off the ASP the same year, and he never reads the book)

the wtf face to the director's intersectionality comments was pretty fricking funny

Here's something that got my attention. When Hays is going through Will's room, he sees a book called The Forests of Leng, No such book exists. Here's a write up on that scene and the importance of the "book" by Vanity Fair. Interesting.

Man that was some serious six degrees of kevin bacon writing there.

I didn't realize it was a D&D handbook. Theres one more tie in to the west memphis 3 story.

We got D&D and Black Sabbath, now all we need is a Stephen King book and these kids are locked up.

Some good clues in the previews videos that were shown after the 2nd episode

1. The kids mother is deceased in the 1990 time line.
2. The garbage man, Woodard is the one who was wrongly convicted in 1980.

There are some screen shots on reddit.

I think they are putting that West Memphis 3 scenario in to throw people off

I think it'll be more than an underlying theme.

I think race has been handled brilliantly and subtly so far. Like the conversation between Amelia and Wayne at the school.

When she calls him sir, she explains... "well, you know...cops." He segues that to "you know...how is it here?" They have a conversation about being black in a small town in North Arkansas without explicitly using the terms race, black, racism, or anything. It was brilliant.

I like that Wayne hunts, is a Republican, and drinks simple beer.

I wish he was my black friend.

Fan fu*king tastick so far. Ali is killing it. Dorf is a welcome surprise.

Trash man in compelling.

Wondering if everything we see in the past really happened or if it is his memory problems playing tricks on him.

I am all in. If we get to see what the wife is hiding under her teacher smock in 1980, that'll just be a cherry on top of this already riveting season.

I thought episode 1 showed real promise. Then we watched episode 2 last night and we are officially...all in. It's great. Im almost upset that they wasted season 2 on that shitty season when they were capable of this all along.

Agreed, there is going to be more to those kids but it I think they are wanting viewers to jump on that bait.

I finally got around to watching the first two episodes. Outstanding so far. A couple of notes:

- They mention the teens partying at Devil's Den, which I assume is a reference to Devil's Den State Park. For those that don't know, it is a haven for conspiracy theories involving Indian spirits, the Occult, and alien abductions.

-I could have misheard, but in the 2015 timeline, it sounded like they alluded to the girl being found but having some sort of issues with her dad. Did I hear that correctly, or dream it?

The kids did say that they were going to see their friend with the new puppy

I didn't know that, but it is a great place to hike. We went the day before the LSU-Arkansas game this year and it was beautiful. Didn't find any creepy dolls though.

They also featured a couple of Fayetteville restaurants, Hugo's and Herman's, that we ate at while we were there.

Assuming West Finger is supposed to be West Fork which is right by Devil's Den.

Odd that they mention Fayetteville by name and not West Fork though.
