I didn't realize it, but Spielberg did direct The Color Purple. Btw, Whoopie Goldberg was the lead. Oprah had a supporting role. It's a pretty alright movie. It's actually pretty explicitly about the oppression and suffering of a poor black woman and her strength to overcome it. Banks is pretty hard off base with this.

He's also one of the most famous and noteworthy directors of all time.

Correlation perhaps?

You mean this wasn't direct by Spielberg?

Good call on TCP and Jurassic Park.

From another perspective, why does Spielberg HAVE to make a film with a female lead anyway? Anyone can make a movie, and anyone can use a female lead. It isn't Spielberg's responsibility to make particular movies in particular ways. He's an artist and can make what he wants

There is actually a Spielberg movie about the Pentagon Papers that stars Meryl Streep coming out later this year. Tom Hanks is also in it.

Steven Spielberg + Tom Hanks + Meryl Streep = Oscar.

Didn't E.T have Drew Barrymore as lead?

Henry Thomas was clearly the lead in that movie.

Imagine a male actor giving Oprah shite because her content caters to women. Guess what Elizabeth he's a man and there's nothing wrong with him making movies that are geared towards men. She'd probably be the first to complain if he made a new movie with women. She'd say as a man he can't write how a woman would act in certain situations/mansplaining BS.

Shocking that once again an actor tries to speak without a script and sounds like a dumbass

LINK

I like Elizabeth Banks, but that's a pretty big fricking swing and a miss right there. Whoopi won a fricking Golden Globe for her lead role in Color Purple and was nominated for an Oscar.

Spielberg directed Goldie Hahn in "The Sugarland Express" in 1974

Elizabeth banks 2 biggest roles have come off of her playing a slut, so i'm not sure what her angle here is.
